Hello Mums and Dads - I wanted to let you know about Bristol Day Of The Dead Festival which takes place on the 27th October - We've been working hard to get lots of children's activities and for families to enjoy Halloween together but in a safe environment. I could really do with some help to spread the word about this event. It is charging - annoyingly we get no funding from the council but have subsidised the costs, have a great offer on Family Tickets (£30) and Under 5s are Free and the event is raising money for local causes and charities in the region - our headline charity being 16-25 Independent People (which supports homeless young people to get back on their feet through ongoing support.)

Here is the 'blurb' about the event and the activities and would love it if you could pass on the information to those that might be interested.

----------

Halloween is a great time where we can come together and party, Day Of
The Dead or Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday which focuses on
gatherings of family and friends to remember those we have lost. We want
to bring the spirit of remembrance and celebration to Bristol's
amphitheatre as West Country meets Latin America!

Bristol Day Of The Dead is a family fun community arts and music
festival showcasing live bands, dance groups, DJs and all the fun of
Halloween but with a twist as we take over the Bristol Amphitheatre for
a whopping 10 hours of music, dance, children's funfair and ghost ride,
children's play and craft zone, entertainment and vocal and dance
coaching sessions for 13-17 yr olds from industry professionals. The
Show ends with a spectacular waterfront fireworks display at 10pm and we
even have a child friendly fire and lights display at 630pm for the
younger ones.

You can also expect local and international acts, top DJs, Mariachi
competitions, spooky pirate walk, apple bobbing, pumpkin carving
competition (register in advance and bring along your creation), haunted
house ghost ride, prizes for best dressed and fire dancers making this
the hottest ticket in town!

Acts already confirmed include Radio 1xtra record of the week crowned
Dr Meaker, Pop Chart sensation Queen Of Hearts, Funkinsteins, Bashema,
Heg Doughty, Vamos!, Siddy Bennett & Wildflowers, Julie Baker, Baila La
Cumbia, Poppy Perezz, AJ, Horseplay Bristol with more to come.

The Children's play zone is staffed with play professionals from Kumiko
Community Arts and volunteers from UWE Bristol and will run all day
until 6pm and will include facepainting, mask making, head-dress making
and more arts and crafts!

This is a community event organised by volunteers coming together to
provide a fantastic day of fun for all the family. With no funding sadly
we have to charge entry but we have kept ticket prices very low and have
lots on offer! If any profit that is made this will go directly to local
causes and charities. Our headline charity for 2012 is 16-25 Independent
People who work with young people to get them off the street and
self-sustaining. Advanced Tickets are available now for just £8/£10 with
a special Family ticket just £30 (2 adults and 2 children under 16) and
under 5s are free (though we ask for a donation for charities).
