Early intervention with going into labour.

I'm currently 39 weeks with my first baby and I am struggling with everything to do with this pregnancy. I've been in and out of hospital and been told I've just got wait it out. I spoke to my midwife today and she has said if I want any early intervention with my labour I need to talk to a doctor from the antenatal assessment unit. I was wondering if anyone has had any early intervention by choice? And how they went about it all? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
