Hi all,

So going off the 'real life friends - or lack of' Ive decided to arrange a meet for us local to derby who dont have any RL friends grin

open to all, we need to arrange a date suitable for all no mean task at all then a place who can put up with lots of ranting adults and time.

So what are people like for availability.

brew and sits comfortably to see what people put

Kowalski Sat 01-Sep-12 15:30:42

Hi Ninja! I am available between 10 and 2 weekdays (while ds is at school) for the next 3 weeks, back at uni after that so free time will be a lot more limited...

Ninjahobbit Sat 01-Sep-12 15:33:56

between 10 and 2 I should be able to manage, with enough notice so I dont book clients. I reckon either week begining 10th or 17th is a good aim.

anyone else? grin

Hello.... smile

I work full time so weekends would be best for me.
I'm not sure if it's a bit weird -- or embarrassing-- me coming as I'm not sure if I'll be too young blush

Not sure what happened there! I'm 26 with no kids yet (despite 3mcs and trying) so if you don't mind me tagging along that would be great smile

Kowalski Sat 01-Sep-12 15:47:04

Weekends are generally ok for me too, have 2 dcs but can leave them with dh if he's not at work. Littlemiss in my head I'm still 24 (in real life I'm 32) smile

Jinsei Sat 01-Sep-12 16:02:00

Well, I'm ancient at 39, but still young at heart! I work FT so weekends tend to be better for me, as long as DH is around to look after dd. Might be able to manage weekdays with a bit of notice.

Ninjahobbit Sat 01-Sep-12 16:25:50

Ok it looks weekends are best, I think its worth deciding if we are meeting with or without DC's (little miss you are more than welcome to join us) I dont mind either (mine prob wont come anyway being 10 and 11 and doesnt want to go anywhere 'boring' have their own interests. I can be flexible with Ex on what time they go to his and come back! I also have babysitters at hand if I need to.

I am also getting rather mature at 35 but my brain is still in its 20's grin

Jinsei Sat 01-Sep-12 16:30:57

With or without DCs is fine for me. Perhaps bringing DCs would make it easier for some?

Kowalski Sat 01-Sep-12 16:52:26

I'm happy to come without dcs especially since ds has recently morphed into the spawn of satan

Whereabouts is everyone in relation to Derby? I'm in Ashby de la Zouch

Ninjahobbit Sat 01-Sep-12 16:55:39

Im glad Im not the only one with DC's who have morphed.

Im in Derby City Centre almost

I propose we pick a place that is DC friendly so that people can choose to bring them or not.

any suggestions on a place is welcome..... the obvious choices are park (with bar cafe) or soft play centre, thats the limit of my suggestions confused but am happy to go anywhere

puds11 Sat 01-Sep-12 22:32:55

Im 24, one girl. I am darley abbey way, a meet up in darley abbey park might be nice? There is a cafe and a play park.

Ninjahobbit Sun 02-Sep-12 08:18:34

That sounds nice, Can everyone get to darley abbey? It is outside the city centre so may not be so crowded.

Depending on how many of my dc's join us I can give people lifts.

Whats peoples thoughts??

puds11 Sun 02-Sep-12 11:38:56

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Kowalski Sun 02-Sep-12 12:39:44

Darley Abbey is fine with me, never been there but just put it in the routefinder and its about 30mins away - with sat nav I should be ok! Free parking is always a bonus!

Ninjahobbit Sun 02-Sep-12 14:59:16

ok so just need to see what littlemiss and jensie think and we can plan it, I think its looking like darley abbey but just want their thoughts before we say for sure, then we can plan when grin

puds11 Sun 02-Sep-12 17:05:10

Sounds like a plan!

Sounds good to me. Not sure where it is but I'll find it! I'm in notts.

Jinsei Sun 02-Sep-12 20:59:55

I don't know where it is either, but I'm sure I'll find it. smile

Do we have a date yet? Sundays are a bit easier than Saturday's for me - how about everyone else?

Ninjahobbit Sun 02-Sep-12 21:05:55

I can do either tbh so will go with the majority.

are we looking at afternoon rather than morning for us lazy lot who cant get up before 10 on a sunday

anyone else is more than welcome to join us too

Sunday fine by me

ldt87 Sun 02-Sep-12 22:29:47

Are lurkers allowed? I'm 25, got 2 little girls who may or may not come with me depending on if they are being monsters! I live in stenson fields :-)

Ninjahobbit Sun 02-Sep-12 23:35:12

lurkers are welcome too smile

Kowalski Mon 03-Sep-12 09:52:59

Sunday afternoons are fine with me :-)

puds11 Mon 03-Sep-12 13:37:23

Sunday will be fine for me too. I'm on holiday this weekend, but will be free after that smile

Ninjahobbit Mon 03-Sep-12 13:44:41

Ok peeps how about this:

Sunday 16th September 2pm at Darley Abbey (meet in big car park by big open field, or anywhere that people will find more suitable)

is that good for all??

puds11 Mon 03-Sep-12 19:02:56

Sounds good! Are we all bringing children?

Ninjahobbit Mon 03-Sep-12 19:27:12

children are optional grin

mine will depend completely on the day on A if I have them or if they are at their dads and B if they want to.

Jinsei Mon 03-Sep-12 20:52:21

I should hopefully be able to make it. smile

Kowalski Mon 03-Sep-12 21:51:25

Count me in! May or may not be bringing children, depends on whether dh is about or working.

How will we recognise each other?

Arion Mon 03-Sep-12 21:58:19

Hi, just seen this thread, can I join in the meet please? I'm Alvaston so Darley Park is good for me. Will need to bring DCs (DD 4 & DS 18 mths). Not been to a meet-up before, I wimped out of the Christmas Lndon one blush

Ninjahobbit Mon 03-Sep-12 22:41:27

hello Arion Im also in alvaston, nice to meet you smile

Good Question Kowalski....maybe we could do a 'gang' style thing and all wear something of one colour? or all wear gloves? We could do what they do on blind dates and all wear a flower of the same colour grin

erm any suitable suggestions are helpful

ldt87 Mon 03-Sep-12 22:44:26

I can't make the 16th as its the husbands birthday. But would like to come next time.

Arion Mon 03-Sep-12 22:56:01

Hi Ninja, nice and local then grin, nice to meet you to!

Colour would be good, I don't own the Mumsnet scarf or haircut! Hopefully we'll be obvious anyway loitering around the car park.

goodmum123 Mon 03-Sep-12 23:21:15

This all sounds great but I'm so sad that I can't make it as its my dads birthday! Typical! Is there going to be another date? Sunday after? Xxx

I can't make it either I'm afraid sad or Sunday after but free any wkend after that

Ninjahobbit Tue 04-Sep-12 08:01:03

Ok I think we will keep the 16th as maybe a pre run and then arrange another one for say the end of sept/start of oct (although I cant do first wkend in oct).

is everyone ok with that? or if 16th is no good for most we can re-arrange completely.

Arion Tue 04-Sep-12 23:27:46

Sounds good, looking forward to it.

puds11 Wed 05-Sep-12 11:03:58

I'm good for the 16th. We could stand next to the garages in the carpark, so we will recognize each other?

Ninjahobbit Wed 05-Sep-12 17:36:27

that sounds good puds smile

are we all wearing one colour? or just going to look for the idiots lurkers near the garages grin

Arion Fri 07-Sep-12 21:25:28

There is just one car park isn't there? I'm thinking of the one just down from the weir and the Abbey pub? Just had a horrible thought that there could be anther car park the other end of the park (town end rather than Darley end)?

Arion Fri 07-Sep-12 21:27:32

Just re-read and seen that its a big car park by big open field, guessing there is a second car park on the town side of the park?

Ninjahobbit Sat 08-Sep-12 10:21:30

eek 2 car parks, this could get confusing confused

I have no idea, I only know of the one with the garages and big field.

maybe we could meet there and head to the other one for those who end up there grin

<signs in>

Am from a little further North around Matlock but might be able to come along if that's ok?

Ninjahobbit Sat 08-Sep-12 15:45:43

of course it is liza anyone is welcome, we just have to all find each other hmm

Arion Sat 08-Sep-12 23:56:37

Ninja, how do you get to the car park, is it near Chester Green, along either city road or north parade? Or do you head through Darley Abbey itself? Just looking at google maps and trying to work this out!

Arion Sat 08-Sep-12 23:58:32

Actually, to add to the fun, I think there's a 3rd car park at the top of the hill off Darley Park road grin

Kowalski Sun 09-Sep-12 11:35:52

I have a feeling I'll end up getting lost! If you come across a strange woman looking confused and muttering to herself that will be me...

Kowalski Sun 09-Sep-12 11:41:11

Or alternatively look out for a grey Audi going round in circles... :-)

Ninjahobbit Sun 09-Sep-12 18:41:49

<makes note to stand in front of grey Audi going round in circles>

Arion hush confused its bad enough with two grin

Also in answer to your question, head for the A6 towards Matlock and then follow the signs down to Darley Abbey, at the bottom there is a car park (hopefully signposted) I might check it all out before sunday to iron out details of car parks and what visual aids there are.

I wont have DCs as they will be at their dads but I wont be able to head to the pub as I will be driving hmm

Ninjahobbit Wed 12-Sep-12 07:34:05

bumping it so it doesnt fall off my 'im on' page grin

Ninjahobbit Fri 14-Sep-12 19:02:13

woohoo weather for sunday is just cloudy...no rain smile watch the forecast get it wrong hmm

Kowalski Fri 14-Sep-12 21:39:52

Fingers crossed it stays dry! Looking forward to it smile

Jinsei Fri 14-Sep-12 21:49:34

Sorry, not sure if I'll be able to make it this Sunday. sad

puds11 Sat 15-Sep-12 12:35:15

What time are we meeting??

Ninjahobbit Sat 15-Sep-12 13:16:52

I think we set 2pm, is that still ok for everyone?

sorry to hear you might not make it jinsei hopefully next time.

Am still aiming to be at the bottom car park next to the sports field and garages. We can then walk to other car park or just wonder around looking for others who are standing/walking around looking equially as muppety as me.

puds11 Sat 15-Sep-12 13:56:16

oky doky, see you then. I'm out tonight, so i'll be the one looking ropey grin

How many people are bringing children?

Kowalski Sat 15-Sep-12 14:25:58

I'll just be bringing DD, DS is going to have some "lads time" with DH.

See you all tomorrow!

Pink10 Sat 15-Sep-12 17:51:09

Looking forward to this and hoping I park in the right place smile

Kowalski Sat 15-Sep-12 22:04:14

Ok I still think I may get lost! Had a look at the website and found the following info:

•Darley Park Drive car park: Sat Nav. DE22 1EN (off Duffield Road A6 opposite the Broadway Pub)
•Darley Street car park: Sat Nav. DE22 1DX (opposite the Abbey Pub)
•City Road car park: Sat Nav. DE1 3RP (next to Parkers Piece)
•Old Chester Road car park: Sat Nav. DE1 3SA (next to Darley Fields)

Could someone confirm which car park is the right one?

Thanks smile

Ninjahobbit Sun 16-Sep-12 10:14:32

will have a look at google earth and confirm for you hun smile

Ninjahobbit Sun 16-Sep-12 10:21:45

OK none of them will put you in the right car park but the first one was closest, it takes you to the other car park where some might end up so if you do end up there.... dont panic.

If you type DE22 1DX that puts you on the right street, the car park is in the bottom corner and if you miss it one way you can turn the car around and head back and see it.

Hope that helps grin

Kowalski Sun 16-Sep-12 11:25:57

Thank you Ninja!

Ninjahobbit Sun 16-Sep-12 17:19:25

Yay we made it and we hung around looking suitably nervous/idiotic... It was fun trying to walk upto one another and ask if we were there for the meet and hopefully not die of embarrasment asking the wrong people {we got the right people}

Headed to the park to let the DCs terrorrise burn off steam while we got to know one another, then it was time for drinks and snacks {or in my case what felt like a three course meal! very good value} more nattering time till rain halted play.

It was lovely meeting you all Kowalski, Puds11, Arion and Pink10 hopefully I didnt chew your ears off with my constant chatter {have missed adult company, could you tell?} and look forward to the next one smile

puds11 Sun 16-Sep-12 17:29:29

grin thanks ninja I had a lovely time

Arion Sun 16-Sep-12 17:53:32

We also had a lovely time! Watch out for the shiny new thread about the nex meet-up!

Arion Sun 16-Sep-12 17:54:06

Duh! next

Kowalski Sun 16-Sep-12 18:45:12

We had a lovely time too, <tries to set record for most loveliness on a thread>

Looking forward to the next one!

Pink10 Sun 16-Sep-12 21:22:32

Also had a lovely time grin was great to meet you all and DC. Looking forward to meeting up again!

puds11 Sat 22-Sep-12 09:39:44
