Hi all!

Just wanted to point you in the direction of the meet ups section of our talk board.

Come and sign up and we can arrange a group meet up soon! grin

SybildeChocolate Thu 07-Feb-13 11:21:06

Meet up? Don't mind if I do! grin

SybildeChocolate Thu 07-Feb-13 11:21:25

should have been gin grin

SybildeChocolate Thu 07-Feb-13 11:22:05

Hmm. Just testing. grin wink smile blush

Arion Thu 07-Feb-13 15:18:35

Hi! I'm up for a meet-up. We had one back in September but not seen anyone since!

SybildeChocolate Thu 07-Feb-13 17:55:26

September was ages away. It's time for another one. grin

NKOTB Thu 07-Feb-13 20:24:39

Yes definitely time for another one! smile

Were there many at the last meet up? The derby board seems a little bit slow at the minute. confused

SybildeChocolate Thu 07-Feb-13 20:37:23

Yup. sad

Arion Fri 08-Feb-13 00:53:01

There was just 5 of us met up in Darley Park in September. Kids had a play at the little playground, we had a chat and then relocated to the cafe for drinks and food.

Darley seemed quite a good location. Someone mentioned Alvaston park on another thread, great cafe there, lovely cakes! grin

An evening meet might be quite nice also? wine?

Arion Fri 08-Feb-13 00:53:28

Why do the smileys not work :-(

SybildeChocolate Fri 08-Feb-13 11:27:33

Yours work. smile

TheCapLady Mon 11-Feb-13 10:58:01

Another one interested, particularly if my Alvaston Park idea gets picked up wink. Having an evening one as well could be good fun too!

SybildeChocolate Mon 11-Feb-13 11:12:06

Hi CapLady. We'll see what we can do. I think the majority rules in cases of a meet up, may be wise to wait for the weather to sort itself out if you'd all like to go to a park though. wink

TheCapLady Mon 11-Feb-13 17:55:07

Weather around here hasn't sorted itself out in years!

SybildeChocolate Mon 11-Feb-13 18:25:36

It's because mother nature doesn't have enough gin! grin

Have you seen our facebook page? shamless plug www.facebook.com/pages/Mumsnet-Derby/120445424774762

MichelleDerby Sat 23-Feb-13 19:16:30

Ok, I signed up. I've got a 3 yr old and a 10 month old. A trip to a park sounds good. Bad weather won't put me off.

SybildeChocolate Tue 26-Feb-13 14:22:51

The lovely people on the Derbyshire local want to know if we'd like to meet up in Chucklebutties in Belper? I think it's a fantastic idea because it's warm!

They will give us a free tea or coffee. What do you think? smile

madrose Fri 01-Mar-13 21:53:52

Just wanted to say hello

SybildeChocolate Fri 01-Mar-13 21:55:58

Hello smile How's things?

MichelleDerby Sat 02-Mar-13 08:13:55

Hello! grin

I would have loved to join the Derbyshire group, but I'm busy that day. Next time.

SybildeChocolate Sat 02-Mar-13 10:32:48

Hello, Michelle!!

Don't worry, we'll have to organise lots of meet ups. smile There's a lovely little cafe on Sadlergate, we could invade the place! grin

I'm sure that I can get us a free coffee or tea. The Derbyshire meet up is in Belper, which can be a bit of a trek if you don't have a car and a lot of little ones. There's also a bit of an age restriction because they are holding a toddler group so it may not be the best place for a meet up. Those who want to go can, I'll meet up anyway. We can arrange something else for us. smile

MichelleDerby Mon 04-Mar-13 20:46:00

Having seen the extremely busy thread in chat telling us all to visit our local pages I had thought we might get some more people around here.

Sadly not.

Ok I'm on a mission to find some Derby people who will come and say hello..........

SybildeChocolate Mon 04-Mar-13 20:58:15

You can do it, Michelle! I know they exist. There has to be more! wink

MichelleDerby Mon 04-Mar-13 21:40:08

I haven't found anyone yet. wink They must be some Derby Mumsnetters somewhere.

SybildeChocolate Mon 04-Mar-13 21:41:25

Scroll up. grin

MichelleDerby Mon 04-Mar-13 21:42:29

This thread is number 21 in the active threads! How did that happen? A quiet evening on mumsnet?

SybildeChocolate Mon 04-Mar-13 21:44:14

There's never a quiet evening on mumsnet! grin

motherofvikings Tue 05-Mar-13 13:49:19

Hello All!

I am your local ambassador blush so thought i better pull my finger out and sort out our next meet up! smile
Any thoughts on where or when we'd like a meet up?

*I'll throw something out there and you tell me what you think..

Cafe for coffee/ cake/ chat one morning towards the end of the month?*

I'm a fairly new to Derby so am happy to take suggestions for where exactly to go, but Sadlergate cafe in town is nice and i've heard good things about Alvaston park cafe.

SybildeChocolate Tue 05-Mar-13 14:16:25

The Derbyshire mumsnetters are having a meet up on the 12th in Belper and have invited us along. There's a free tea or coffee. Problem is, is that there's a toddler group going on and I don't think they are going to let the older small children in. sad

Markeaton Park is lovely, and there's a cafe! Alvaston would also be nice, we could take some nuts and seeds for the ducks yea, I'm a sucker. The majority rules though so keep posting (and please can you like our facebook page? We have more like's than Nottingham). begs

Hello, motherofvikings. smile

MichelleDerby Tue 05-Mar-13 14:23:26

I like the idea of a cafe at a park. I've got more chance of getting my 3 year old to sit down at a cafe (without the need for superglue) if I've worn her out first. My 11 month old is pretty easy to please. Feeding ducks sounds good too.

I can normally do most days except Tuesdays.

SybildeChocolate Tue 05-Mar-13 14:28:29

I haven't been to Alvaston Park. blush Markeaton Park has a play area, a cafe, ducks quack, a football pitch, a paddling pool (when it's warmer), moving cars, crazy golf and a steam train. There's a small farm just outside the park and a little garden centre. The farm shop has a tiny cafe but they make huge sandwiches! Tuesdays are not great here either. I can get into Derby for 10am but will have to leave at 2:30 for the school run. smile

motherofvikings Tue 05-Mar-13 14:38:29

Let's stick to a park with cafe, my dc are 4 and 2 almost so def better when they've had some exercise first! smile

We can do any day but ds is in preschool in afternoon so have to get back for that at 12.30.

I have tried the hot chocolates at markeaton park and alvaston - alvaston was better but as dh did a takeaway run I have no idea what the rest of it's like.

Glad to see we have a few people keen to meet up already! smile

motherofvikings Tue 05-Mar-13 14:40:41

Sybille - was markeaton cafe the one in the orangery or are there 2? confused

MichelleDerby Tue 05-Mar-13 14:49:29

There are 2 cafes at markeaton park. One inside the park and one just next to it ( on markeaton lane).

SybildeChocolate Tue 05-Mar-13 14:50:45

A park does sound better. I will go to Belper anyway so anyone's welcome to join us.

It's a shame there's so little for children to do in the city centre. It's probably more accessible for everyone as I always find it a tad unfair to have it on one side of the city as those on the other side will need to travel. We could feed the ducks in the riverbank behind the council house (there's space for a run around), then go for cake a drink in one of the cafe's close by. I bet the quad would be happy for us to join them.

SybildeChocolate Tue 05-Mar-13 14:52:43

Markeaton Lane's just outside the park (past the craft village) where the farm/farmshop/garden centre/cafe is. There's another cafe inside the craft village inside the park itself, just next to paint-a-pot.

motherofvikings Wed 06-Mar-13 14:09:03

Shall we give a vague area of derby we're in so we can pick the most convenient location for the meet up.

I'll start. I'm on the south side, alvaston park is closer but markeaton isnt too far away either.

How about the last Monday before Easter hols start, 25th?

SybildeChocolate Wed 06-Mar-13 15:57:24

I'm not in Derby, I'm just outside but I can get to anywhere. I used to live near Markeaton Park.

horseylady Wed 06-Mar-13 19:58:56

Near Markeaton so can do!

MichelleDerby Wed 06-Mar-13 20:07:49

In the south-west side of Derby. Markeaton park isn't far. Though I do have a car so happy to drive to the opposite side of Derby if that makes it easier for someone. smile

SybildeChocolate Wed 06-Mar-13 22:01:40

Hi horseylady. smile We're so happy to hear from you.

I'm very happy to hear from you all. wine

IIRC the 27 to Mackworth goes past Markeaton Park, the Allestree bus also drops off at the Mundy Play Centre as well. There's a couple of car parks on the park itself.

Is Monday 25th good for you all? Ds will have broken up from school by then so he'll tag along and help us out grin

MichelleDerby Thu 07-Mar-13 05:04:42

Ooh i cross posted with a new person on our thread! Hello Horseylady! grin

<RemindMeWhatSleepIs jumps up and down with excitement!>

Pami9 Thu 07-Mar-13 10:43:35

Markeaton is no far from me either, I hav car so no problem. But what is the final arragements?

SybildeChocolate Thu 07-Mar-13 14:29:03

I'm not very well at the moment so won't be on here. I haven't forgotten though {grabs puke bucket}

MichelleDerby Thu 07-Mar-13 16:38:39

Hello Pami9. I don't think there are any final arrangements yet Pami9. Maybe wait a few days till everyone confirms if they are free on 25th March.

We are free on the 25th. Sounds like we decided on Markeaton Park.

MichelleDerby Thu 07-Mar-13 16:39:08

Get well soon SybildeChocolate!

motherofvikings Thu 07-Mar-13 21:10:54

oh no poor sybil!

Right Marketon Park it is! smile

Is a morning meet up on Tuesday 25th March alright for everyone?

Pami9 Thu 07-Mar-13 21:20:09

25th March is good for me too..

MichelleDerby Fri 08-Mar-13 08:36:07

Motherofvikings the 25th March is a Monday not a Tuesday.

I can do the Monday but not any Tuesdays.

motherofvikings Fri 08-Mar-13 09:05:15

D'oh! blush

How's MONDAY 25th March?

<slinks off to make another cup of tea!> blush

TheCapLady Fri 08-Mar-13 12:30:31

I'm near Alvsaton but can do Markeaton Park as well smile Monday the 25th of March sounds lovely.

SybildeChocolate Fri 08-Mar-13 17:20:08

Sounds great! How does 10:30am outside the cafe sound (the one closest to the craft village)? I'll put a fruit shoot and a packet of pom bears on the table so you'll know that you're not meeting up with a random group of strangers confused. grin

I'm OK until I stand up but at last I've stopped puking. sad

MichelleDerby Fri 08-Mar-13 18:42:39

Good to hear you are on the mend SybildeChocolate. See you there at 10:30am.

SybildeChocolate Fri 08-Mar-13 19:17:57

Getting there slowly. smile

motherofvikings Fri 08-Mar-13 19:45:59

Excellent! We have a plan! smile

I'll hop over to the group meet ups but and add the details!

SybildeChocolate Fri 08-Mar-13 19:55:59

smile Thank you thanks

Pami9 Fri 08-Mar-13 20:51:20

25th 10:30 it is then smile .... are we bringing food as well? confused

SybildeChocolate Mon 11-Mar-13 00:06:34

You can if you want, Pami9. There's a cafe on the park if you'd like something warm but it's a little like a greasy spoon. grin

Pami9 Tue 12-Mar-13 11:52:48

Yea there is a cafe, I might bring something wll see smile

SybildeChocolate Tue 12-Mar-13 12:12:08

horseylady Tue 12-Mar-13 21:02:51

Ill be there about 11.15

SybildeChocolate Wed 13-Mar-13 19:15:20

smile It will be lovely to meet you, horseylady.

Mackworthgirl Wed 13-Mar-13 21:15:35

Hi im from mackworth i was wondering if i could join the meet up at markeaton i have a 3 year old ds

SybildeChocolate Wed 13-Mar-13 21:39:17

Of course you can! smile Hello!

MichelleDerby Thu 14-Mar-13 09:08:12

Hello MackworthGirl! grin

motherofvikings Thu 14-Mar-13 14:02:33

Woo hoo! There's going to be loads of us! grin

I'll have my 2yo dd and 4yo ds with me (I'll be the frazzled looking one!). Ds has afternoon preschool though so will need to head home in time for lunch etc.

Can't wait! grin

MichelleDerby Thu 14-Mar-13 15:36:45

grin I think i may be in competition with MotherofVikings for who looks the most frazzled! grin I'm bringing 3 year old DD and 11 month old DS. I also start back to work after maternity leave the day after our meet up so I may be a little stressed! confused

Pami9 Fri 15-Mar-13 12:22:16

I think I will win that competition bcoz my 20 mnths ds is very active outside, he doesnt like to stay in one place and likes to explore everything..... good luck to me grin. But look forward to meet all of you smile.

SybildeChocolate Fri 15-Mar-13 14:04:39

I think I'll be childless as ds doesn't break up until the next day. sad Can I still play?

MichelleDerby Fri 15-Mar-13 14:54:09

Of course you can still come and play SybildeChocolate!

<secretly wonders if I can leave my two anywhere and come along childless that day!> grin

MichelleDerby Fri 15-Mar-13 15:02:00

SybildeChocolate you may have to come up with something else to put on the table so we know who you are. I imagine there's not much call for fruit shoots and Pom bears if you are coming on your own! grin

< Thinks possibly mumsnet gin winewouldn't be a good replacement! >

SybildeChocolate Fri 15-Mar-13 16:34:33

I hate gin. I think the packet of pom bears may also be... empty. blush

Rachel2620 Sun 17-Mar-13 22:04:37

Hi people, me and my 12 month old daughter will join in too if that's okay? smile (thankyou Michellederby for letting me kno about the meet up in the first place! I don't come online enough to keep up with what is goin on lol) it sounds like its gunna b an army of mums! Lol looking forward to seeing you all smile ......

SybildeChocolate Sun 17-Mar-13 22:13:01

Hi Rachel, of course you're welcome. smile The more the merrier.

I'll look for somewhere a bit larger next time and free cake grin

MichelleDerby Sun 17-Mar-13 22:46:13

Hello again Rach2620!

Looks like this mumsnet meet up is getting very popular! grin

motherofvikings Mon 18-Mar-13 08:10:50

Hello Rach!

Am starting to wonder if we should have picked a bigger venue! confused smile

Looking forward to meeting everyone! smile

MichelleDerby Mon 18-Mar-13 08:20:36

Yes I'm looking forward to it too. grin

Rachel2620 Mon 18-Mar-13 20:15:46

If all goes well (which I'm sure it will!! grin) we will have to make it atleast a monthly thing for sure! X

toysintheattic Wed 20-Mar-13 09:27:41

Hi, would love to come along as well -- will be childless too as mine will be at school. See you on the 25th!

MichelleDerby Wed 20-Mar-13 10:24:28

Hello Toysintheattic! See you on Monday! grin

SybildeChocolate Wed 20-Mar-13 11:16:50

Monday? Isn't the 25th Tuesday? confused panics

MichelleDerby Wed 20-Mar-13 13:31:10

25th March is Monday. Is that a problem?

SybildeChocolate Wed 20-Mar-13 13:38:47

Depends on whether I can fix my teleport. I may be slightly late (have a meeting in Nottingham at 10am). Sooo sorry. sad

MichelleDerby Wed 20-Mar-13 14:22:19

Seems a shame that the person who did most the organising for the meet up can't make it.hmm Could we change the time to make it easier?

SybildeChocolate Wed 20-Mar-13 14:25:24

Na, I'll change the meeting. It should be OK. smile It's my fault, I have a lot going on next week and I'm still ill.

SybildeChocolate Sat 23-Mar-13 11:09:44

I think it would be wise to rearrange this. sad I'm not usually a wimp and quite like the snow but... oh my god! I think we'll be the only people there. sad

MichelleDerby Sat 23-Mar-13 13:12:05

We could build a snowman! grin

SybildeChocolate Sat 23-Mar-13 13:26:47

grin We could. Ds is coughing like a trooper though so I doubt he'll be fit for school on Monday and it's infectious. I'm painting a black plague sign on my front door as I type. You may have to send me some pictures of the meet up and I'll post them on the facebook page {sobs and stamps feet in the snow}.

MichelleDerby Sat 23-Mar-13 16:19:30

I'll go with the majority, happy to swap to another week if you want or to give it a go. Whatever everyone wants to do.

If we changed the date would we be able to contact everyone so no one turns up anyway?

Or a change of venue to somewhere warmer? Cherry Tree Pub (Toyota roundabout) has good children's play area and cake.

SybildeChocolate Sat 23-Mar-13 16:37:53

Hopefully all of the lovely people will see this thread. sad I'll send some DM's out later and ask if you all want a different date. wine

TheCapLady Sat 23-Mar-13 19:14:30

I got the message grin Won't be crossing town in this unseasonal weather. Even on a main road, it's quite horrid here and travelling with four has been a nightmare in it.

No idea of other date, though it may be an idea to find an indoor activity that could be done wink.

SybildeChocolate Sat 23-Mar-13 19:18:56

Indoor with cake wink I'll see if we can hog the Quad for a couple of hours. The easter hols last a couple of weeks so we should have enough time for someone to make a prozac pill large enough to sort Mother Nature out.

toysintheattic Sat 23-Mar-13 20:23:12

Hi got the message about Monday cancellation; in general I'm free Mon/Wed/Fri; won't be around from Wed April 3 to Fri April 5 but am otherwise free. Hope to meet up soon!

motherofvikings Sat 23-Mar-13 20:26:24

Crumbs! Is the snow bad? We left derby this morning for a weekend away and it was only an inch and v wet slushy stuff.

Lets rearrange it. Shall we try for after Easter holidays?

Any days suit anyone in particular?

Ill put a notice on the group meet up bit too.

SybildeChocolate Sat 23-Mar-13 20:38:07

I hasn't stopped snowing since Thursday here. sad Ds and I are also ill and the last thing I want to do is give the plague to any of you all, it's vile. I'm happy to work around you all. smile

TheCapLady Sat 23-Mar-13 21:48:14

Oh cake, of course grin.

We're pretty easy (with better weather) so not available the last week of April. Going on our first holiday in years. Hopefully we can meet before then though, the Quad does sound like a good idea.

SybildeChocolate Sat 23-Mar-13 22:16:48

Oh holiday! envy I'll have a chat with the people on the Quad and see if they can lay on some activities to keep the little mumsnetters busy whilst we eat cake. It's usually no problem for me to get into Derby. Shame we can't all go to Ikea for meatballs.

motherofvikings Sat 23-Mar-13 22:30:06

Aargh! I'm away from home so can't update/ see the group meet ups bit on my phone. Could someone put a message on there to say we'll rearrange Mondays meet up. I won't have a pc again till Sunday night thanks! smile

SybildeChocolate Sat 23-Mar-13 23:23:01

Pami9 Sun 24-Mar-13 08:24:28

I would prefer indoor as well, as my son would be out of control in the park and I will be running around after him, and will not get chance to speak to any one sad

MichelleDerby Sun 24-Mar-13 14:15:13

I've never been to the Quad and don't know anything about it. It would be great if there was something for the children to do. My 2 won't sit nicely at a cafe for long! smile

horseylady Sun 24-Mar-13 20:03:08

I think you've cancelled tomorrow? Just to say the cafe isn't open!! Went last Monday and closed!!!!

SybildeChocolate Sun 24-Mar-13 20:26:21

Yes, sorry! Suspected tonsilltis here so we're off to the GP sad I didn't know about the cafe.

The Quad is better; there's a place to have a coffee and we can feed the ducks after. There's usually something to do inside to keep the little mumsnetters occupied and it's in the city centre so is easy to get to. smile
