I'll do my best but please note answers are based on only having been here three weeks so far.

Best THING ABOUT THE AREA: I am loving the amazing architecture, and the fun statues all over the place - penguins on the church wall, Desperate Dan and co, the iron buildings, those buggy climbing creatures (what are they?). I'd also say the new pool is amazing, and a big reason we love it here.

Best CHILD-FRIENDLY CAFÉ: I don't have a café-friendly child!

Best CHILD-FREE NIGHT OUT:

Best OUTSIDE SPACE:

Best HIDDEN GEM:

Best COMMUNITY VENUES:

Best FREE VISITOR ATTRACTIONS: Only made it to the MacManus museum so far, so can't really comment. That was good though!

Best DAY OUT: Broughty Ferry beach and playpark. Again, not done loads yet.

Best PLACES TO LIVE: Contentious. Have been told Perth Road area, but I am quite liking the other end of town, but merely because it is close to the facilities my family like to use.

Best PLACES TO SHOP: The Disney Store blush

LEDundeeAngus Fri 09-Aug-13 12:34:16

The buggy climbing creatures are Lemmings, I have discovered.

I agree that other end of town has some nice areas to live too.

Best THING ABOUT THE AREA: The regeneration going on and the positivity of the Dundonians about this. Its a great location you can be on the beach within 10 mins, countryside in 10 minutes, yet it has all the amenities of a city.

Best CHILD-FRIENDLY CAFÉ: Jessies Kitchen

Best CHILD-FREE NIGHT OUT: The Ferry with lots of pubs and restaurants to choose from or a trip down the Perth road.

Best OUTSIDE SPACE: Camperdown Park or Monikie Park

Best HIDDEN GEM: Verdant Works, a good visitor attraction that is not too easy to find but worth the hunt!

Best COMMUNITY VENUES:

Best FREE VISITOR ATTRACTIONS: Again Camperdown Park has a lot too offer, playpark and lots of picnic space, also the wee zoo (at a cost).

Best DAY OUT: Sensation Science Centre

Best PLACES TO LIVE: West-End of Dundee, The Ferry, Maryfield

Best PLACES TO SHOP: Broughty Ferry and the West End.

Ah, lemmings! I didn't actually look at them properly, DS was racing off somewhere! smile Thanks!

LentilAsAnything Fri 09-Aug-13 13:00:48

Actually, can I just copy Pehsandbridies answer for the first question? smile

LEDundeeAngus Fri 09-Aug-13 17:45:19

Yes, that is a great answer. I love Dundee at the moment.

LEDundeeAngus Fri 09-Aug-13 20:13:14

They are on the Perth Road, Jenz. You know the little park just along from Roseangle, where the mini-bandstand is? They just appeared a few weeks ago.
