God, I nearly fell of the couch when I saw this in active convos!

I'm in Tayport...small person is asleep and all is peaceful for a while.

What's everyone up to?

blackspider Sun 23-Oct-11 13:44:11

Im in the west end of Dundee, just about to sort out a late lunch for the kids.

PinkPussyCat Sun 23-Oct-11 13:52:16

Hello, thanks for starting this thread! I'm in the carse of Gowrie (don't want to be too specific). Ds & I lolling on sofa having just eaten black pudding rolls for lunch. Dh should be home from work in a couple of hours, got loads to do but cba <lazy>

FoxyRevenger Sun 23-Oct-11 14:02:41

Mmm black pudding roll.... <jealous>

PinkPussyCat Sun 23-Oct-11 14:11:59

T'was scrummy Foxy. Currently resisting nomming down a second one.
(were you on the old thread under a different guise perchance?)

FoxyRevenger Sun 23-Oct-11 14:17:07

Nope, I've always just been me smile

PinkPussyCat Sun 23-Oct-11 14:21:36

Ah ok then! Love your username. Think I m

PinkPussyCat Sun 23-Oct-11 14:24:47

Gah hit post too soon. Thinking of changing mine as I googled it recently and it would appear it's also the name of one of those, erm, 'adult' shops. That's what you get for googling though eh?

FoxyRevenger Sun 23-Oct-11 14:26:02

Ha ha I guess if you type the words pink and pussy into Google the results will be fairly disturbing....

ClaimedByMe Sun 23-Oct-11 14:27:59

I'm in the north end of Dundee!

PinkPussyCat Sun 23-Oct-11 14:35:33

blush foxy exactly!
Right. I really do have to go and empty the dishwasher/put washing on/do a general debris sweep but I will be back later... Wonder how many of us are out there? <intrigued>

We were in Tayport last Sunday for a walk along the beach, it was glorious! Tide was so far out you could almost walk across, beautiful sunshine and hundreds of geese overhead. Also sometimes take ds along the cycle path.
I notice a wee cafe has opened by the harbour, is it nice? Never had time to go in yet.

Just back from a weekend scouting out Broughty Ferry, Monifieth and Newport - very exciting!

DH very keen on Newport as he'll be working in St Andrews, although he liked the other side too.

First the frustrating business of selling our house!

PinkPussyCat Sun 23-Oct-11 22:14:23

Hi Euphemia, that is exciting! I love St Andrews (mostly for Ian Mellis the cheese shop) and the general vibe of the place - great for people watching. Had lunch recently there in a new-ish restaurant, think it was called Mitchell's or something (must check) can highly recommend! Good luck with the move.
Two things that are pleasing me greatly about Dundee at the moment are T Ann Cake (new cafe in town) and Hobbycraft has just opened in Kingsway retail park. Love it smile

Euphemia Sun 23-Oct-11 22:16:21

Hobbycraft yaaaaayyyy! I love the Glasgow one - I get all excited going there!

PinkPussyCat Sun 23-Oct-11 22:21:33

Good god have just read the thread back and realised about 95% of my posts are food related blush blush

PinkPussyCat Sun 23-Oct-11 22:25:00

Ooh yes it is fab! I am not even remotely crafty but by the time I've walked around the shop I feel I could make anything! Love all the beads/jewellery making paraphernalia.

PinkPussyCat Sun 23-Oct-11 22:25:59

Glow in the dark thread?! That's amazing

FoxyRevenger Mon 24-Oct-11 10:48:54

Helvetica, really? Small world!

The cafe is good, just sandwiches and soup and stuff but we got amazing stovies in there one day.

I haven't been to the library for a while actually, it's open such daft hours, I always forget.

We live on the main road, just a few minutes walk from the harbour so tend to bypass it most days we are at home. The dolphin watching a few months back was AMAZING!

I not only saw fireworks, the garages next to my house were set on fire!!!! Lucky me...
Nice to see a chat thread - good on you for starting one.

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

handsomeharry Sun 06-Nov-11 13:33:16

To be honest the only reason I noticed was the flashing blue lights through the curtains. I think it was just kids. The garages are actually an eye sore. They aren't used or properly maintained and stand out like a sore thumb in the street.

Maybe it was a pissed off resident!

I'm totally okay but appreciate you asking. Just delighted to be having a chat now on the Dundee thread.

It has been lovely but it is confusing me a little! I keep switching off my central heating and then needing it on again. I suppose I should just be grateful it's not bloody freezing.

I really don't like Sunday nights. All the ironing I should have done earlier in the week is sitting waiting to be done - I never learn!

Whereabouts in Dundee are you? You don't have to say if you don't want to!

I'm north of the Kingsway.

DS is watching Merlin on catch up and eating ice cream. I'll have to sit through X factor too, which I now hate.

I really am in a crappy mood. grin

Are you writing a dissertation/thesis? Sorry am v v nosy.

Hi blackspider, how are you? I'm currently stuck indoors with 4yo ds who won't go outside as "it's too windy" hmm
Looks glorious from where I'm sitting!

PinkPussyCat Sun 22-Jan-12 13:06:00

Hi TBE <waves>

ginmakesitallok Sun 22-Jan-12 13:06:58

Looks beautiful here too - hoping it stays that way so we can walk to swimming lessons later. shock and grin at 2 dundee threads on active convos!

blackspider Sun 22-Jan-12 13:08:21

I'm actually still sitting in bed on laptop blush.

It does look lovely and sunny outside, but I can hear the wind whistling about.

Do you have any plans for the day Pinkpussycat or are you going to let your DS shelter inside?

PinkPussyCat Sun 22-Jan-12 13:16:46

No proper plans for the day, dh is working, not sure what to do... Will get out into the back garden shortly. Fill up bird feeders etc. <sigh> my life is so exciting...

CoffeeMummy Thu 26-Jan-12 12:19:25

Hello, can I join too and out myself as a local?! I was inspired to seek this out by another thread about moving house (which I think lots of you are also on!) as I realised there's actually quite a few of us around this area. I'm in Birkhill/Muirhead, and not Dundee born and bred, although my DH is. Am working from home today but finding it VERY hard to get motivated - especially cos the weather is nice and cold and clear - would love to get outside for a good walk!

Hey everyday <waves> smile

Just saw this thread pop up in active convos.

What's the news? What's been happening?

We've been Tayport-bound for a week with a stomach bug - lovely - and today I'm actually glad to be back at my desk shock

Hello, can I join you all too? I have two little girls (a 2 year old and a 4 month old) and we are having a lazy day today. I just found mumsnet local, didn't realise there would be so many dundee people on smile

hello, im not dundee just outside though (by about 20 miles grin). Its soooo bloody cold today. I think if you have to scrape ice off the inside of your car that should be a good enough reason not to go to work and stay at home. i wish

shesparkles Fri 03-Feb-12 15:17:43

TBE that sale's about 3 minutes away from me! wink
As the owner of a teen and a 9 year old, I don't think anyone would want what I need to get rid of now! lol

And yep, still freeeeeezing!

PurpleFrog Fri 03-Feb-12 15:48:51

shesparkles - you might be surprised. They usually accept clothes up to 8 years and books and toys up to 10 years. [I usually do the Cupar one each year and dd is now 14!] Of course we might just be very slow in getting round to having clearouts....... grin

shesparkles Sat 04-Feb-12 07:41:19

thanks for that purplefrog It's a bit late for the sale today, but definitely worth knowing for the future *eyes up overflowing loft

Bumping this thread to see if anyone is still around.

You may have noticed that the Local section has had a fantastic revamp and is looking rather smart. We'd like to fill the local pages with great tips and reviews of local businesses and events.

We will also be organising local meet ups around the town for anyone who would like to get out of the house for an hour or two.

If you know others in Dundee area, give them a shout and invite them along to the MN Dundee Local pages.
