"...near Bluewater"

Original thread here

Right, I'll start off then...

I'm 32, have 3 ds's, 7, 4 and 6 weeks. Live just over the border in Bexley.

I'm free most days, so quite flexible, and love going to Bluewater, though unfortunately 99.9% of the time it's just to window shop <dirt poor emoticon>.

How's about the coffee shop by Next on the upper floor as a rendezvous point?

Anyone else?

Araemo Fri 23-Nov-12 20:15:23

Awww, come on people!!!

(op here btw)

commonslady Thu 29-Nov-12 12:35:22

hiya

I am up for a 'near bluewater' meetup! I am free on a Friday usually and have a 4 year old DS.

Window shopping is all I can do as well, so happy to join you for that smile

Sophie87 Thu 29-Nov-12 16:03:31

Hello,

I was on the original, original thread in chat about where people were from, I did agree to a meet up but then got distracted (moved house).

I'm usually free on a Friday and just about have the funds to cover coffee and window shopping! I have a (nearly) 2 year old DS so would be nice to meet some other mums as I don't currently know any!

commonslady Fri 30-Nov-12 15:11:55

Hi Sophie87

That's good that you are free on Fridays too! How near are you to bluewater? I'm about 5 miles away but dreading going near the place around christmas so could be persuaded elsewhere if you or anyone else have any ideas?

Sophie87 Mon 03-Dec-12 20:37:39

Hi,

I'm in Swanley so only about 20 mins or 3 hours at this time of year away.

I've recently been told this place is good but I haven't been there yet so don't know for sure. DS isn't as keen on sitting down for coffee and looking round the shops as I am so I know he'd prefer somewhere where he was able to run around a bit.

I'm open to any other suggestions though.

Araemo Tue 04-Dec-12 16:53:49

Yay! Other people! Thought I was totally left hanging there grin
I'd be up for a meet-up, not hassled on where, I'll follow the majority.
I'm in the Bexley/Dartford area.

Sophie87 Mon 10-Dec-12 12:04:47

Maybe we should set a date for a meet up in the new year as I seem to have a million things to do before Christmas now as I'm sure everyone else does.

Araemo Mon 10-Dec-12 14:28:32

Hi, thanks for the pm sophie (OP with MN Local namechange)
I'm free all the time during school hours (have 12 week old and not working at mo) so I'm happy to leave the time and place to you guys with time constraints and tag along.

Sophie87 Mon 10-Dec-12 20:03:19

blush Do you know I must have read this tread 5 or 6 times now and still managed to miss the fact you already said you were the op.

I work from home so can generally move things around although mondays & fridays are usually easier.

slightlydemented Mon 11-Mar-13 18:49:25

Hello ladies- did you all meet up?Would anyone still be interested in some sort of rendezvous?

Bekastuffystuff Tue 12-Mar-13 10:58:34

Hi, I live near Sevenoaks and would be up for meeting some other mums smile I have a 4 year old DSS

Araemo Tue 26-Mar-13 14:37:01

Nothing was ever arranged, but I'm still up for it if anyone else is...

commonslady Tue 02-Apr-13 14:03:39

yes! I am still up for it too! Got a little sidetracked by Christmas/New Year/snow etc etc blush

Sophie - Go banana's is fab, it's my local soft play place!

marvelhero Mon 15-Apr-13 20:00:35

^^ definitely recommend Go Bananas, we spent many many days there in the last 5 years, with me having 2 boys 19m apart. I'm almost sad they are now both at school and really too big for it there!

Araemo Fri 19-Apr-13 12:52:46

So, are we going to do this?!
Should I just suggest a date and time and see who is free?

Also, is anyone going along to the london meet-up?

Sophie87 Sat 20-Apr-13 15:23:38

I'd definitely still be up for meeting, not sure exactly what happened to the last 4 months! Not going to the London meet up, start small I think. I'm happy for someone else to pick a date as I'm pretty flexible.

Have been to go bananas since I posted last, definitely one of the nicer soft plays we've been to, although hadn't realised quite how narrow some of the lanes are round there!

charlie7 Sun 21-Apr-13 22:17:15

Hi, I would be up for meeting up. I am new to the area and live near Sevenoaks. I don't know many areas round here but I do know Bluewater!
I have a 16 month old, a 4 year old and a 6 year old at school.

Peekaboomoo Fri 10-May-13 15:36:03

I'm near Sevenoaks too <nods to charlie> and am marking my place to see if I can make any potential meet ups.

charlie7 Fri 10-May-13 18:22:22

Hi Peekaboomoo! Yes let's see if we can sort something, I'm still keen to do so.

Peekaboomoo Fri 10-May-13 18:26:22

Where (ish) near Sevenoaks are you Charlie? (pm me if you'd rather). I'm between sevenoaks and orpington (just incase we happen to live down the road from each other or some such!)

charlie7 Fri 10-May-13 21:58:01

We live in a village on way to Westerham- I've pmd you but I don't know how to get a reply back on my phone (not done much pming!)

Peekaboomoo Sat 11-May-13 06:07:37

not got a pm charlie sad

charlie7 Sat 11-May-13 07:04:21

I think I'll have to try on the computer, I'll do it later!

MissReeKent Sat 11-May-13 20:07:24

Would any of you ladies be interested in being a Local Ambassador for your area? All that's required of you is arranging local meets once a month (or more often if you like).

Feel free to drop me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks

Ria

Araemo Sat 11-May-13 22:12:18

Ok, come on to feck, let's get this mother organised!

How's about next friday or saturday? I noticed a number of people upthread were free fridays. During school hours at bluewater? Say 11ish?

Show of hands for friday 17th or saturday 18th?

charlie7 Sun 12-May-13 07:09:42

I can do Friday 17th- but only in the morning unfortunately as my 4 year old goes to pre school at 12. So I guess I can be free from 9.30 ish (after school run) til 11.15 ish. Would be long enough for a coffee!!!

charlie7 Sun 12-May-13 07:11:04

Also, I might be interested in being the ambassador.... However, I can't pm at present as I'm on my phone, and computer not working... Will deal with it ASAP.

Peekaboomoo Sun 12-May-13 07:41:44

Can't do Fridays as working sad and it's DHs birthday next week end so we are planning a trip out somewhere (sadly not involving bluewater!)

charlie7 Sun 12-May-13 08:19:28

Which days can you do usually Peekaboomoo?

Peekaboomoo Sun 12-May-13 08:25:02

Monday mornings or Thursdays (have bits and pieces coming up though so depends on the date <useless>) or school holidays. There's a possibility I might be going to bluewater tomorrow morning to return some shoes...

Oh, don't think I ever said, I have a 2 YO dd grin

charlie7 Sun 12-May-13 08:31:04

Well I can do some Monday mornings, but not tomorrow unfortunately. And also school hols but will have 3 children in tow ....smile

Araemo Sun 12-May-13 08:44:26

I can do any day really.

Anyone else have any restrictions time-or-day wise?

charlie7 Sun 12-May-13 08:47:13

My restrictions are pre- school most days, and my best mornings are Tuesday and Friday though I could do Monday/Wednesday some weeks. If not next Friday, how about a week on Monday?

Peekaboomoo Sun 12-May-13 14:25:58

Monday mornings seem to be possible for everyone if we can get a date in? I can't do Monday week, got a medical appointment I've been waiting ages for. What about the Monday after half term?

Do you fancy sharing a bit more so we know each other a bit I'm really nosy ? I'm 31, have one 2 YO DD. I live near Knockholt (do you know it Charlie7?). I'm a part time teacher - it's an exhausting time of year at the minute prepping for exams/marking coursework etc. DH, DD and I have been to Hever Castle today, which was a lovely day out - they have a great water maze there and lots of ducks to feed and a nice playground. DD is very sociable and gets very excited when she sees other children but I'm a bit shy . I can't think of anything else to say blush . I sound really dull don't I!

Araemo Sun 12-May-13 15:19:01

I'm (OP) still 32, but my ds's are now 8, 5 and 8 months. Wow, seems like both yesterday and a lifetime ago that I started this thread! Living in Dartford now. Monday after half term works for me.

charlie7 Sun 12-May-13 20:37:23

I can't do that first Monday after half term unfortunately, but I could do the one after? 10th June?
Sorry!
I live near Brasted, don't know the area very well as only moved here a few months ago so no Peekamooboo, I don't know where you are, sorry!
I'm 38, 3 DCs as described above. New to area, so trying to go to lots of groups etc. I'm also a teacher but not teaching at present. Looking forward to meeting you both!
Is that Monday ok?

charlie7 Sun 12-May-13 20:38:06

And no you don't sound dull at all Peekamooboo!

Peekaboomoo Mon 13-May-13 07:18:58

charlie we're only maybe 10 mins from each other grin . How much do you know about the area/things to do? I can try and think of some things/places family wise if you like.

I think 10th June I'm free, I just need to double check, will get back to you grin

charlie7 Mon 13-May-13 08:06:16

Peekaboomoo, thank you! I'm slowly getting to know the area and know the national trust places round here, but yes any extra ideas would be great!

Peekaboomoo Mon 13-May-13 12:24:35

Charlie have you been to christmas tree farm or coolings nature trail ? Both are quite small but DD loves them. I'll see what else I can think of grin

Araemo Mon 13-May-13 20:55:38

10th is fine for me. Sounds like it might be a runner so...

charlie7 Mon 13-May-13 22:48:38

Great! It's in my diary now so it has to happen wink Lets sort details nearer the time. Thanks for info Peekaboomoo, I'm thinking of trying one of the places tomorrow!

Peekaboomoo Tue 14-May-13 07:30:22

OK, checked the diary and I can't do that morning sad . I can do the last Monday morning of June though? <hopeful> . Sorry, I meant to post that yesterday but forgot blush

charlie let me know how you get on. Btw, can I ask which nursery/preschool your DC is at and if you'd recommend it? I'm just starting the look for one to get DDs name down for when her free places start but am just confused about which one/how to choose.

charlie7 Tue 14-May-13 12:51:01

I'll pm you Peekaboomoo.
Ok that date in June is fine. Unless another day other thank Monday is better, then we can meet sooner?

verity07 Tue 14-May-13 18:17:37

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone on this thread would like to become the local ambassador for your area? Makes meeting up a bit easier as you'll have you own page to arrange meet ups and contact people in your group?

You also get a nice 'Local Ambassador' card!

Email kent@mumsnetlocal.com if anyone is interested!

Peekaboomoo Tue 14-May-13 18:23:20

I can do some Thursdays too if that's any help for a sooner meet up?

Sorry Verity I just don't think I would have enough time

verity07 Tue 14-May-13 19:23:54

That's ok Peekaboomoo smile- just thought I'd ask!

charlie7 Fri 17-May-13 07:01:35

I'm not sure I'd be much use as Anbassador- I'm new to the area so don't know it very well. I guess you'd have to know your area quite well?

Sophie87 Sun 19-May-13 08:08:16

Ooo this has moved on a bit since I last checked. Any date in June is fine with me, the only day I can't really do is Tuesdays.

I'm 26 & have a 2 year old DS. Live in Swanley and am a part time bookkeeper working from home.

I can second the recommendation of Christmas tree farm as well, DS loves it there & it's just the right size for toddlers.

MissReeKent Mon 20-May-13 13:02:50

Charlie, you don't need to know your area well at all - as long as you know a couple of good places to meet, you'll be fine!

verity07 Thu 23-May-13 16:49:27

Hi Everyone,

The new meet up page has been assigned for Sevenoaks so your next meet up at Bluewater can be listed there if you want.

local.mumsnet.com/kent/group-meet-ups/sevenoaks

If you join the group you'll get email updates when each meet up is arranged! smile

charlie7 Thu 23-May-13 18:47:05

Hi all
I will update are meet ups etc on the new page and start a new thread later tonight. Just to clarify- does anyone have anywhere particular that they want to meet within Bluewater or shall I decide? Just before I put it on the actual meet up bit!

charlie7 Thu 23-May-13 18:47:24

*our!

Peekaboomoo Fri 24-May-13 06:47:29

Wherever is fine for me smile The food court would have the advantage of a bit of space to run around and there's a toddler playground outside there if the weathers nice, but I'm not sure if it'd be open that early. Anywhere is fine by me though.

charlie7 Fri 24-May-13 09:32:25

Thank you- I've put Starbucks as a meeting place as that will definitely be open, but we could change it nearer the time anyway, or move down there instead. Lets hope people want to come!!

charlie7 Wed 05-Jun-13 15:36:10

Hi all, can anyone else conform if they are able to attend on 24th June? At the moment, on the meet up thread for Sevenoaks, I have Peekaboomoo and Boysrule. Anyone else? We are just trying to decide whether we can meet somewhere nearer Sevenoaks. However, still happy to meet at Bluewater if that's more central to everyone, as originally planned. I just might try and think of somewhere where children can run around there!
So, just let me know if you make it.
Thank you!
I'm just trying to find out whether

charlie7 Wed 05-Jun-13 15:36:36

Ignore last part... Seems I was doing 2 answers at once...

slightlydemented Tue 11-Jun-13 18:42:23

Hello all. Not from sevenoaks at all, we're the other side of Bluewater in Erith , but would be ever so interested in tagging along?

charlie7 Fri 14-Jun-13 00:07:50

Great! Yes of course, please do come along. Can you make 24th June?

slightlydemented Thu 20-Jun-13 18:39:45

Indeed we can! Where and what time? I'll need to dust off my sociability!

charlie7 Fri 21-Jun-13 23:40:39

I thought Bluewater... I suggested Starbucks just because I know it, but I'm happy to change it on the meet up thread if you can think of somewhere better. I think we should keep it as bluewater for this time so that other people from near the area can come. I thought about 9.45? I've got school run to do first...

Peekaboomoo Sat 22-Jun-13 19:05:49

Great, that works for us. So, how many of us will there be then? I've got a 2 yo DD. Starbucks works for me btw but am happy to meet elsewhere if there are any other preferences.

charlie7 Sun 23-Jun-13 06:54:13

Let's stick with Starbucks then. I think that makes three of us going? But please anyone else who wants to just turn up just do so!
I'll be wearing a pink and orange stripy top and I'll have my baby and my 4 year old with me.
Bluewater Starbucks, 9.45am, tomorrow morning. See you then!

Peekaboomoo Sun 23-Jun-13 08:02:34

Excellent, looking forward! Wish I had a mn scarf I could wear for my first mn meet up grin

charlie7 Mon 24-Jun-13 09:36:18

Main Starbucks near waterstones and apple store!

slightlydemented Mon 08-Jul-13 09:09:54

I missed it! How was it? Can we do it again??

charlie7 Tue 09-Jul-13 14:10:56

It was just the two if us, but good thanks! Yes I'll arrange another meeting if you would like to come next time?

slightlydemented Wed 10-Jul-13 19:59:50

Yes please Charlie! I'm expecting number 3 at the moment, and it'd be lovely to meet some more people in the local area. I'm just in erith so dead close to Bluewater, but I drive so I'm pretty flexible. Keep me posted please!

charlie7 Sun 14-Jul-13 22:56:17

Yes of course. I have 3 DCs ,it's great! How are school hols for you? Was thinking of making an arrangement for then.

slightlydemented Thu 18-Jul-13 17:00:14

Hiya Charlie. School hols sound great, just keep me posted as to when and where. I actually have a dsd as well, so with bump that's going to take us up to 4- I think I'll have to change my name to entirelydemented!

Pigster73 Thu 18-Jul-13 17:09:32

Hello! Just saw this thread. I'm in Sevenoaks and would love to meet up with some folks as we've just moved and I don't know anyone in the area. Currently 31 weeks with DC2 so not sure how able I'll be to make meet ups at the moment, but would love to stay in touch for future ones if that's ok?

charlie7 Thu 18-Jul-13 20:25:40

Slightlydemented that's fine, more children for my mad lot to play with!!! It's my aim to put on a new meeting this week (applying for jobs at present so lack of time!) is Bluewater the best place for you? Or somewhere else? You aren't that close to Sevenoaks are you?

charlie7 Thu 18-Jul-13 20:28:25

Pigster73, welcome!! I'm quite new to the area, only been here 6 months so I'm always wanting to meet new people too. I think I'm going to do two meet ups this time round- one in Sevenoaks and one further afield. So I'll let you know and see what you feel like doing. But yes keep in touch, pm me if you like, if you want any advice on the area etc (not that I probably know that much more than you!) and hope to see you soon.
Hope you are coping ok with the heat shock

charlie7 Thu 18-Jul-13 22:12:12

Hi everyone- I'm going to start putting two meet up dates on the Local page- under Sevenoaks Meet ups, (even though one won't be actually in Sevenoaks) so please keep an eye on that page and hopefully we can get some meet ups sorted!!

Peekaboomoo Fri 19-Jul-13 05:47:49

Ohhh, sounds like a nice big impending meet up, count me in grin

Pigster73 Fri 19-Jul-13 18:20:33

Brilliant! Thanks Charlie7 for organising! Am definitely up for meet ups!

charlie7 Thu 25-Jul-13 13:50:05

Hi all, I've put a meet up in Sevenoaks on the local page. I don't know if it will let me do two, so I may organise the other one on a new thread. Please give me am idea of people who are interested in a non-Sevenoaks meet up ie Bluewater??

slightlydemented Tue 06-Aug-13 19:05:12

Hi Charlie, sorry I didn't see this!! I'm near bluewater but I drive and am happy to travel if sevenoaksis best for everyone else? Hope the applications are going well!
