Come and say hello smile.
Let's see how many people will admit to living in this neck of the woods. grin

FairMidden Wed 11-Mar-09 17:25:54

Hello! How are you? Did you guys get together the other week then? I was really rough, it's taken ages to get rid but definitely on the mend now

Am feeling v guilty for neglecting Local of late, haven't even put any listings on, must get down to it at the weekend.

Flier Wed 11-Mar-09 17:29:39

Hello! <what happened to makkapakka?> No, we didn't get together in the end, will need to arrange another smile
Poor you sad Glad you're feeling better though - did you manage to get time off work?

re neglecting local - I know, I feel bad too, I keep meaning to add things

FairMidden Wed 11-Mar-09 17:32:50

MP bit the dust grin

I have a policy of not taking time off work. Suspect that doesn't help matters but when you go so long without having a sick day it becomes a matter of principle!

Are your DC fine? We will need to have another meet, you're right. There was talk of a mini meet this end, there's a soft play in Aviemore which might be worth investigating, Wallace went I think. Will let you know if something comes of this

Flier Wed 11-Mar-09 17:47:26

grin I know what you mean as a point of principle after a while

soft play - is that the one at the hotel complex? I could be up for that

FairMidden Wed 11-Mar-09 18:50:23

Nope, although I think there's some sort of bouncy castle affair at the hotel. The soft play is at the climbing wall. And of course there's always the funhouse.

I'm thinking maybe the week of the 23rd?

Wallace Wed 11-Mar-09 19:00:12

That's weird, FM - I just emailed you, like a minute ago shock (I think it's you?)

Wallace Wed 11-Mar-09 19:03:13

The hotel has a bouncy castle and inflatable slides and stuff (haven't been but my big kids have) but is only open at weekends at the moment.

Can't beat the funhouse to be honest! And if the weather is good their is a lovely playpark near the fun house

FairMidden Wed 11-Mar-09 19:18:23

Yes Wallace, have replied - spooky! I'm waiting to hear back from TM - she'd suggested next week to meet but I can't do next week at all, but the following week is OK. So we'll see what she says. Is the funhouse better than the new soft play bit, do you think?

Wallace Wed 11-Mar-09 19:29:13

According to my big kids the hotel thing is better for big kids than little ones (they would say that, wouldn't they!)

PS In previous post I meant to, of course, type "there" not "their" blush

FairMidden Wed 11-Mar-09 19:31:30

Ah, I see - I meant the new soft play at the climbing wall.

Hotel bit does look like it might be a bit, er, vigorous for littlies. grin

Wallace Wed 11-Mar-09 19:37:35

oops, was so distracted by my shameful typo I didn't read properly grin

Fun house is better definitely. Good thing about the one at the climbing wall is that it opens earlier - the fun house doesn't open til 12 duing the week in Winter.

Flier Wed 11-Mar-09 21:19:05

shock by the sounds of it; Aviemore has more play places than Inverness!

I'm sure I could due w/c 23rd, The funhouse was the place I was thinking of but couldn't remember blush

Rach1972 may be up for it too, although she is away just now

FairMidden Fri 13-Mar-09 08:47:52

Any other takers for a meet sometime the week after next then?

Flier Fri 13-Mar-09 11:13:21

I'll post something under meetups.

FairMidden Fri 13-Mar-09 13:30:09

Ah yes, good idea Flier, and one which didn't at any point cross my mind! blush

Just saying hi! Don't always remember to check the MN local bit!

Btw, anyone into or use cloth nappies? Just thought I'd mention that the Highland Real Nappy Project are doing a nappy event/nearly new sale here in Dingwall on Tuesday (17th) at the Greenhouse charity shop, from 10-11am! Just in case you or anyone you know needs some more cloth nappies!

Flier Sat 14-Mar-09 16:30:57

Hi Rachel, you must be about to give birth any day now (if you haven't already, that is).
Good luck, will you let us know how you're getting on?
Oh, and we'll see if we can get the HRNP added to the local whats on

Yes, not long now - due in just over 2.5 weeks. My last one was 5 days early - so I'm a bit curious when this one will show up! I'm feeling quite ready...if I can just get my house a bit more tidied up! LOL

Thanks - yes please if you can add the HRNP event to the local bit. Was going to investigate doing something like that last night, but didn't get that far!

FairMidden Mon 16-Mar-09 22:23:33

Bump

Twinklemegan Mon 16-Mar-09 22:36:39

Hellooo. Sorry I haven't got round to replying FM - it's manic here at the mo. As it turns out this week wouldn't be any good anyhow. The blardy new kitchen never turned up - I was going to get DS out of the house while DH made a start - and I now have horrible meeting this week to prepare for. Next week's good though. Friday 27th anyone? The kitchen's supposedly hmm arriving on Wednesday and DS is at nursery on Thursday.

The Funhouse sounds good to me - Wallace and I met up there eons ago.

FairMidden Mon 16-Mar-09 22:44:34

Aaaaaaaaah I can do any day next week except Friday! [sod's law]

Twinklemegan Mon 16-Mar-09 22:48:47

I could possibly do Tuesday? I'll have to check tomorrow though.

FairMidden Mon 16-Mar-09 22:53:42

I could do Tuesday but not until late morning.

We all have such hectic lives up here ... and they say nothing happens in the sticks, eh?!

Twinklemegan Mon 16-Mar-09 22:57:35

Believe me - late morning is fine by me!

Wallace? Flier?

Flier Tue 17-Mar-09 07:55:58

Tue 24th fine by me

Wallace Tue 17-Mar-09 20:18:15

Tues is good for me. Fun House not open til 12 I think.

Playpark at Coylumbridge (almost next to fun house) is great too if the weather is nice.

FairMidden Tue 17-Mar-09 20:48:37

Well what about meeting after lunch then? Or is that difficult for those with school age DC?

Wallace Tue 17-Mar-09 21:02:47

After lunch (1 ish) would be fine. I have to be back for 2.30 but only live about 15 mins away.

Of course, dh has to fix my car first...

Flier Tue 17-Mar-09 21:13:53

1pm is a bit tooo late morning for me smile
I have to be back to the black isle for 3pm...

Wallace Tue 17-Mar-09 21:26:22

Meet late morning but at the playpark, then in for lunch and play?

Wallace Tue 17-Mar-09 21:28:32

Website sayss Fun House open at 10, but would have to check.

Flier Tue 17-Mar-09 21:29:25

thats do-able for me, but if otherwise suits the majority of you then I'll wait for the next one smile
am off to bed early, will check back tomorrow x

FairMidden Tue 17-Mar-09 22:07:30

Well I can manage whatever - we won't get there before 11 but that's no problem, you can start without me and if you all look too scary en masse DS and I will run away before we're spotted grin

I'll call the Fun House tomorrow and see what time they're open

Twinklemegan Tue 17-Mar-09 22:14:45

Oops - forgot to check my work diary blush. Will let you know tomorrow if I can make it.

FairMidden Wed 18-Mar-09 13:26:02

Right, I called the FunHouse and they don't open until 12 on Tuesday. Is that too late for you Flier? We could meet at half 11ish and let the DC have a while in the playpark and in the meantime hope fervently for good weather.

Wallace, is the park you mention part of the Hilton or is it somewhere else?

Flier Wed 18-Mar-09 13:38:50

Thanks for phoning them, FM.
If we could meet for 11.30ish, then that would be do-able for me, would let DD then have an hour or so ish in the fun house before we have to head home, plenty of time.

Wallace Wed 18-Mar-09 17:35:23

Yes it is at the Hilton. At the roundabout at the Hilton instead of turning right to the fun house, go straight on and then follow road round corner to left. Playpark is on your right. Is a small amount of parking there, but is just as easy to park at Fun house and walk round.

Twinklemegan Wed 18-Mar-09 22:13:09

I'm free on Tuesday. Will book my leave tomorrow - well earned after today I think. smile

I like the suggestion of meeting at the playpark and then having lunch and play in the Funhouse. I think you said the playpark's better for the older DCs Wallace, so DS would enjoy some time in the Funhouse too I think. 11.30 is fine by me.

Flier Sun 22-Mar-09 09:20:08

So, see you all at the playpark around 11.30?

FairMidden Sun 22-Mar-09 10:23:21

That's good with me

Twinklemegan Sun 22-Mar-09 23:30:25

I'll be there with DS. smile

Wallace Mon 23-Mar-09 06:29:46

I'll be there too. Although the weather isn't quite sogood for the playpark bit now!

FairMidden Mon 23-Mar-09 08:30:10

Hmm yes, think we'll pack the waterproofs!

Wallace Mon 23-Mar-09 18:06:45

My bloody car has just broken down (yes dh did just fix it) I am so Dh thinks it is dead, I am just gutted

FairMidden Mon 23-Mar-09 19:15:15

Not sure if I will be of help but I have emailed you Wallace

Wallace Tue 24-Mar-09 06:36:51

Thanks FM All is saved I'm taking dh's old jeep

Flier Wed 25-Mar-09 15:43:53

It was lovely to meet you all yesterday, look forward to the birthday meet smile

Wallace Wed 25-Mar-09 19:09:46

We had a lovely time

Ds fell asleep on the sofa after we got back he was so exhausted (doesn't usually nap!)

Sorry I left without buying you all a cup of tea in return - my round next time grin

FairMidden Wed 25-Mar-09 19:10:04

Yes, we both had a lovely time. We will have to try and get together again sometime and I'll have to try and work on my punctuality blush

Twinklemegan Thu 26-Mar-09 11:05:09

I definitely owe cups of tea as well. I'm sorry I might have seemed preoccupied with DS blush. It's so frustrating when he clings to me like that and won't play.

Mind you, FM will verify that I had real trouble dragging him out of the ball pool in the end! And he wouldn't put his shoes on - he wanted to wear the "beautiful" (pink) shoes in another pigeonhole. grin

I'd love a birthday meetup. Maybe we'll even get good weather...

Wallace Thu 26-Mar-09 15:20:26

It's okay, they all have days like that, TM

I have the opposite problem, spend half my time tearing after ds blush

Pink is also my ds's favourite colour, so I'm sure they will soon be firm friends, bonding over the pretty shoes grin

Birthday meet up would be fab, Flier's dd can have an extra birthday on the 26th so she is left out

Flier Thu 26-Mar-09 16:14:02

TM I didn't think anything of it, we all have days like that, in fact I was surprised that dd wasn't at all clingy, she normally is at toddlers and we go every week!

Wallace Thu 26-Mar-09 16:50:45

isn't left out I mean blush

Flier - hardly saw your dd she was off playing so much grin

Flier Thu 26-Mar-09 17:24:53

I know! it was a first, I can tell you that smile
Altho was funny when dd and TMs DS were discussing the bear coming out (I thought it was a squirrel?) anyway they were both terrified at the thought of it coming out like it did the last time dd was there smilehmm

FairMidden Thu 26-Mar-09 19:19:18

I can see their point though Flier - even as a proper grown-up I find the thought of an 8ft fun-fur squirrel mildly alarming. And kids aren't daft - given its size, a bear is far more plausible wink

Twinkle I really didn't think you were preoccupied - there have been times DS has been a real cling-on and I have felt like taking him somewhere far away and tying him to a tree for five minutes to get a bit of space blush grin. I can definitely verify your DS's eventual love of the ball pool though grin

I feel bad with groups of mums because when he's like he was yesterday I spend so much time dashing off mid-conversation to retrieve him from battering someone else's child/stealing food/investigating places he ought not to be, I feel really rude.

The conclusion we can probably draw from this is it's [always] just a phase grin

Wallace Thu 26-Mar-09 21:03:31

Too true - it is all just a phase grin

That giant squirrel is freaky, I agree...

TM - I am really enjoying "your" website and we are planning lots of family walks!

Twinklemegan Thu 26-Mar-09 22:42:33

Hey, thanks for looking at it Wallace! I'm pretty pleased with it although I'm very conscious of how much work still needs to be done to almost every record on there. Still, it'll keep me in a job until I retire. grin

So that's what they were on about Flier. I wasn't quite sure how the "bear" came up in conversation!

FairMidden Thu 26-Mar-09 22:53:12

Ooooh TM I meant to say, it's brilliant!

DP and I were out for a walk yesterday and came across somewhere really cool and found it on the archive afterwards . It was also reassuring to find a document saying it was unlikely to be developed for access purposes, because it's such a tranquil spot (and we don't want to share it with a million tourists blush).

It took me a loooong time to find it via the Council site though though - they should definitely give you a link from the homepage.

Twinklemegan Thu 26-Mar-09 23:03:42

Thanks for taking the time to find it FM! You're right about the link. I'll definitely look into that now - I bet loads of people give up. In hindsight I should've just told you to Google it - much quicker to find it that way. smile

Wallace Fri 27-Mar-09 15:36:48

OOh FM, you'll have to tell me where grin

It is so nice to find out about the old ruins we always visited on family walks as kids.
