Meet up

(120 Posts)

Hello

Following on from thread in chat (I think, or was it AIBU-not sure), does anyone fancy arranging a meet up?

Honeydragon Mon 09-Jan-12 10:02:15

<lurks>

<is out in the sticks somewhat>

How far out in the sticks are you nosy?
Priscilla and Martyr have said they are up for a meet up - just need them to see this htread so we can sort it out grin

Honeydragon Mon 09-Jan-12 10:21:43

I'm on the far side of Silverstone grin

Honeydragon Mon 09-Jan-12 10:22:33

I never manage meets up as I don't drive any more and am neither really Oxford or Northampton

Is public transport an option?

Honeydragon Mon 09-Jan-12 11:14:34

yes, dependent on journey.

I have mastered it after years of practise, but there is still the odd surprise, like you can get a bus in but the next one back is two days later grin

Silverstone is less than half an hour from me down the dual carriageway, so depending on how far past Silverstone you are I'm happy to come and get you but understand if you didn't want me to.

One way or another we should be able to arrange something smile

Tyson86 Mon 09-Jan-12 11:21:11

Hi I am up for it, happy to pick honey up as I am in wootton so not really too far grin

Eclairwaldorf Mon 09-Jan-12 15:21:52

Hi where would we be meeting up? I live in Kettering, but can get to Northampton no worries.

MartyrStewart Mon 09-Jan-12 18:33:26

Hey, count me in. smile

Depending on where it is, I'm up for it too grin.

Great, anyone have any preferences for where/when? smile

MartyrStewart Tue 10-Jan-12 08:48:53

I can't do Mondays, but apart from that am pretty flexible.

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 11:42:29

Hellooooo

Didn't realise there would be so many replies already.

I'm in.

I can do most days/times. grin

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 11:44:06

<adds thread to watch list so I don't forget it's here blush >

Tyson86 Tue 10-Jan-12 11:55:11

Will dc be coming or not. smile

Nagoo Tue 10-Jan-12 12:02:29

<lurking>

MartyrStewart Tue 10-Jan-12 12:05:45

I think there was some talk of meeting up at a soft play type place with DC.

Nagoo, don't lurk, it will be fun grin

Tyson86 Tue 10-Jan-12 12:36:43

Hi Goo grin
If dc are coming I can do anything smile

Nagoo Tue 10-Jan-12 13:15:52

Will we let them have fruitshoots? grin

I'm at work quite a lot now when I am not smashing up my legs but you arrange something and I'll try to tag along smile

I'm happy to do softplay or park. please don't make me be the one to make decisions If we do softplay maybe best to go for one of the smaller ones or we will spend all the time chasing after the DC with no time for a coffee or chat.
Nagoo I'll let my DC3 have anything he bloddy well likes, if he lets me drink a coffee whilst it is still hot grin

MartyrStewart Tue 10-Jan-12 13:26:15

I agree small soft play would be a good idea - and weatherproof!

Bezerk near Moulton is fairly reasonable during term time.

Yes Bezerk would be good, or Wacky on the Bedford Road. Whichever is easiest for people to get too.
How odd would it be if any of us already knew/recognised each other grin

MartyrStewart Tue 10-Jan-12 13:44:54

Shall I stick my neck out and suggest next week? Wed/Thu would be best for me but happy to go along with the majority.

Thursday would be better for me but can make Weds if not. smile

MartyrStewart Tue 10-Jan-12 13:51:38

Either is fine with me - happy to go with Weds. smile

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 14:11:46

Wednesday or Thursday good for me.

Do we give the children packets of Pom bears so we all know who's who? grin

Yes definitely bring Pom bears grin Wednesday then? What time?

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 14:22:00

Anyone contacted MudAndGlitter? I know she's in MK but said she might be able to get her Dp to drive her here?

Not sure if I sent her a link to this thread or not. I will now.

I'm here! Thanks for the PM. Wednesday is good for me, will see if DP is working and can give me a lift, if not I'll figure out trains and busses!

This will be my first meet up AND my first soft play experience :D Can do Weds or Thurs next week, and Moulton sounds good to me. How exciting. Will bring DD (11mo).

Mud If you need a lift from the train station I promise my hands are not hairy and I'm not a truck driver grin
Riding you don't know what you have been missing at soft play! My first meet up too smile

NorthamptonTsarina Tue 10-Jan-12 14:48:12

ooh you're meeting up just down the road from me! can i come? smile

grin thank you.
I'm going to apologise in advance in case the DCs decide to play up. And for the no doubt frazzled state I will be in!

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 15:19:31

Mud, don't worry, our little Angels can play up together. grin

Would anyone mind if DP came too? He said to ask as he loves taking the DCs to soft play and will charge around making sure DS doesn't bite anyone/get stuck etc whilst I drink coffee.
If not don't worry I'll tell him he's just a taxi service!

MartyrStewart Tue 10-Jan-12 15:38:58

Sounds good to me Mud smile

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 15:44:52

Mud I was thinking of bringing my Dp too so he can keep an eye on kids while I chat and drink coffee.

If yours comes along, mine def will too.

MartyrStewart Tue 10-Jan-12 16:00:19

How exciting - I've not met any MNers since I was BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger grin

Eclairwaldorf Tue 10-Jan-12 16:29:48

Ohhhh I'm really sorry but just checked this thread since my last post,I can't make next week but will definitely meet up with you all the next time. I am free Thursdays and Friday afternoons. Have a fab time ladies!

Eclairwaldorf Tue 10-Jan-12 16:31:11

First meet up for me ( when I come along to one that is), have never ever met a fellow mumsnetter before blush

NorthamptonTsarina Tue 10-Jan-12 16:47:28

i'll take that as a no then smile

Issimma Tue 10-Jan-12 16:53:09

haha, tsarina, of cooooourse you can come.

What time are we meeting? And are we wearing pombears carnations? wink

This is Riding btw with a non-festive username grin. I name change too often...

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 17:03:08

Sorry tsarina. Didn't see your message.

Course you can come, the more the merrier.

So next Wednesday?

Anyone have a preference for before or after lunch and where?

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 17:04:12

Eclair can you not do next week at all or is it just Wednesday because I'm sure Thursday afternoon won't be a problem?

Eclairwaldorf Tue 10-Jan-12 17:12:53

Hi no definitely cannot do next week, go away Saturday morning - am working til Wednesday and have to pack on Thursday and friday sad and a billion other things to do in between. Will be free in feb though grin

Tyson86 Tue 10-Jan-12 17:46:58

Next wednesday, where have we decided on and what time smile
This will be my 3rd mn orientated meet up but first local one smile

I would prefer mid to late morning please. smile

I can do anytime. I've even booked a haircut in anticipation!
This is my first ever meet up.

Issimma Tue 10-Jan-12 18:50:26

Either mid-late morning or early afternoon best for me.
I'm having a haircut the following day mud - poor timing grin.

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 18:52:32

Ok so Wednesday.

10am? How's that for everyone?

Where?

My first ever meet up too. So exciting. grin

MotherPanda Tue 10-Jan-12 18:58:51

Ooh, what were when who? Am Banbury but would love to meet up with locals some time. I will bring a family pack of Pom bears.

Eclairwaldorf Tue 10-Jan-12 19:02:06

I'll be there in spirit grin

Tyson86 Tue 10-Jan-12 19:28:26

10 am is fine for me, although I am coming as I am, which is not a pretty sight in the mornings wink

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 10-Jan-12 19:31:47

MotherPanda

So far we're at next Wednesday at 10am.

Not sure where yet though. I've only been in Northampton since October and not gone out much yet so waiting for someone else to make a firm suggestion. grin

Issimma Tue 10-Jan-12 21:08:17

I vote for berzerk, only as Moulton is the one place I know in Northampton...

Honeydragon Tue 10-Jan-12 23:28:41

MotherPanda I'm very close to you, I'm Brackley

I only really know hartwell so you natives can decide!

MartyrStewart Tue 10-Jan-12 23:51:26

10am is fine for me, Moulton is just up the road. smile

NorthamptonTsarina Wed 11-Jan-12 06:35:08

is it odd to come without a child? mine will be in school. i guess i could be on spare hands duty.

So is everyone happy with 10am at Bezerk next Wednesday?
We will all have to be holding a packet of Pom bears to recognise each other wink
smile

NorthamptonTsarina Wed 11-Jan-12 07:24:05

sounds good to me. i have nowhere to source pombears though wink

I'm in Towcester, didn't realise there were so many local mumsnetters!

Ooh Cup you're only 15mins from me. I have been following your thread and praying for you, Beatrice and your family. I didn't realise there were so many local MNers either - I'm sure I don't just speak for myself when I say that if any of us locals can do anything just holler.
Depending on how things are going with you & Beatrice if you want 1/2 hour for a coffee somewhere we would love to arrange it,to talk nonsense and to eat pombears cake smile
xx

MotherPanda Wed 11-Jan-12 09:14:16

Hello Honeydragon, I love the book shop in Brackley, Have been a few times just to go there!

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Wed 11-Jan-12 10:25:46

I'll take that hands on duty Tsarina. grin

Honeydragon Wed 11-Jan-12 10:27:54

CupofTea same here ... didn't realise you were down the road x

Can't believe I had the opportunity to meet you at the Christmas Fair! Peppa and Iggle Piggle were awesome weren't they? If you ever want to get together you know where I am wink

MotherPanda I'll pm you next time I'm in Banbury if you want to meet for a coffee? Or let me know next time your in Brackley and I'll take you to the courtyard coffee house, they are really Mum friendly x

StickAForkInMe and Honeydragon Hi neighbours! grin

Beatrice and I have a second home, otherwise known as Costa in Towcester. We are in there at least 3 times a week blush If you can get here and fancy a cupoftea (see what I did there?!), then please do let me know, I'd love to meet some real life MNers. smile

I used to go to Brackley a lot with dd2 to BumbleBees before she started school, but visits have tailed off now as they prefer Rainbows in Daventry or Play 360 in MK.

Honeydragon Wed 11-Jan-12 13:49:53

Have you tried the Surestart centre in Brackley? We have a few Mums (and a Dad!) who come from Towcester, we've got a reputation as a nice friendly group, and are quite tied to the Towcester one for amenities.

I'll check the bus time tables though and we'll see what days would be could to visit smile

cup I will definitely come down to Towcester in the next week or so. Is it weird that I have never been in a Costa? smile

Cupoftea - I didn't realise you were so local - I have been following your thread and praying for Beatrice. smile

So are we on for next Wednesday then?

MotherPanda Fri 13-Jan-12 19:03:37

Honeydragon - thanks, Would love to meet up some time.

Same goes for the rest of you locals! Towcester is beyond my reach - but would be very happy to come to the Brackley surestart have tea sometime.

Cupoftea - Have also been thinking of you.

Not sure I'm going to make the official meet up - as Northampton is also beyond my reach (Banbury buses are ridiculous!). Will be shaking pom bears in spirit though!

Bitter Yes I have next Wednesday marked down. 10am, Bezerk, carrying a packet of Pom bears smile

issimma Fri 13-Jan-12 20:13:34

I'm coming too grin. Do we have a meeting point, or shall we just wave our pombears around with abandon?

Eek I don't know! Its been years since I have been to Bezerk so can't actually remember the layout blush
If I manage to get there a few minutes early I will grab us a table and have in the middle of it the closest thing I can find to a Pom bear balloon grin

Tyson86 Fri 13-Jan-12 20:35:15

I am getting a bit nervous now <wibble>

Me too Tyson. I'm wondering if I have time to lose 3stone and develop a sparkling personality and a witty sense of humour by Wednesday. Do you think it's achievable? grin

Eclairwaldorf Fri 13-Jan-12 20:39:41

Tempted to call in sick at work just to come to the meet- up blush

Tyson86 Fri 13-Jan-12 20:45:58

grin Maybe wink

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Fri 13-Jan-12 20:49:26

Do it Eclair grin

I'm in still. Wednesday 10am Bezerk!

I'll probably wear my purple MN scarf. smile

Tyson86 Fri 13-Jan-12 20:54:35

Priscilla is there different mn scarf designs? I only ever see the leopard print one which is not really me.

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Fri 13-Jan-12 21:18:57

Different colour leopard print ones here

None leopard print one here

grin

Tyson86 Fri 13-Jan-12 21:23:39

Ooh thanks, I actually like the grey leopard print one, or the pink! May get one grin

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Mon 16-Jan-12 13:15:04

We're getting closer.

Everyone still on for this meet up? grin

issimma Mon 16-Jan-12 16:42:22

Oh yes. Bring it on!
I have no MN scarf, bombers or fruitshoots. Please save me from going up to random ladeez and asking if they're mn-ers!

Yes I'm still up for it very very nervous though smile
How will we know each other?

issimma Tue 17-Jan-12 21:14:09

I really hope to make it - will confirm in the morning. Have added you to my mn mates so you should be able to see a photo. DD will be looking older (she's 11mo) and I'll be looking more frazzled!

I hope you all enjoy your meet up tomorrow! Let me know if there's any interest in a brackley/towcester meet up and we can arrange something soon. smile

NorthamptonTsarina Tue 17-Jan-12 21:24:50

oh it's tomorrow isn't it - ds has been off school today so i will have to see how he is in the morning. if he's well enough to go back i'll be there smile

OlympicEater Tue 17-Jan-12 21:32:16

Not sure if I'm brave enough to come along (would look particularly strange as my DCs are at school).

Can help with the layout though.

As you go through the entrance, the counter is on your left and a massive slide straight ahead; baby and toddler area to your right. Seating is to the left with the cafe bit at the back left.

Have a great time smile

OlympicEater Aw come and meet us. You don't need to have a child with you wish I wasn't going to have mine with me, then I might actually get to a have a hot drink smile

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 17-Jan-12 21:45:18

OlympicEater. Please come. I'll give you one of my children.

I'll be the frazzled looking one trying to split myself in two directions after one blonde curly blue eyed 16month old and one screaming dark haired hairy tall 2.9year old.

Or if all goes to plan, I'll be the one sat at the table with coffee and the MN App open on my phone. grin

Nagoo Tue 17-Jan-12 22:16:27

I am lazy, can someone hook me up with google mappage?

please? or a postcode? ta.

OlympicEater Tue 17-Jan-12 22:23:28

Nagoo

Will see if I can borrow my nephew and come along

Hello, looking forward to meeting you all.

DD will be with me wearing a red coat with blue stars on. I will be approaching anyone wearing an MN scarf and probably making a fool of myself grin

Eclairwaldorf Tue 17-Jan-12 22:49:28

Ah have a fab time ladies, hopefully meet you at the next one! Am also excited that you are meeting at Bezerk, never been there before! Will wear my mn scarf to work tomorrow so I don't feel too left out! grin

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Tue 17-Jan-12 23:01:26

Bitter I'll have my purple MN scarf on. grin

I don't have an MN scarf so will (hopefully) carry a packet of pom bears around for someone to notice grin
I'll be dishevelled with an 18month old I'm not pregnant just fat so please don't ask me when its's due grin

issimma Wed 18-Jan-12 07:42:23

Yay, we're coming. V nervous excited.

Issima Yay! I'm nervous excited too smile

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Wed 18-Jan-12 08:56:32

Yay.

See you all soon. grin

Morning smile

See you soon grin

Right, I'm leaving now - if you see a lost looking person with a DD wearing an eye patch, please come and approach me grin

Nagoo Wed 18-Jan-12 12:41:42

Nice to meet you all smile I know I talked too much. grin

I knew I liked you Nagoo, as soon as you said 'I'm not a Dickhead!' grin

Lovely to meet you all, we should do it again.

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Wed 18-Jan-12 12:59:38

I liked "I'm not a dickhead" grin

It was lovely though, sorry I didn't talk much. I do get more talkative as I get to know people. Honest.

Boys are knackered though. grin

Nagoo Wed 18-Jan-12 12:59:46

I'm going to get that tattooed on my back, like a book review grin

Lovely to meet you all. smile
Nagoo Thankyou for the coffee.
Definitely think we should do it again.

Nagoo Wed 18-Jan-12 13:02:53

I'll make ty come next time.

And I'll bring my own crisps smile

issimma Wed 18-Jan-12 13:34:15

Yes, we should definitely do it again now we know we're a dickhead-free zone!

Baby is asleep so I love soft play - it's official grin.

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert Wed 18-Jan-12 15:21:27

Well it's been a good day all round.

PIL where waiting at the door with loads of meat. Chicken, pork chops, mince etc. don't know why but I ain't complaining. Next weeks shopping will be cheap. grin

Plus DP just got an interview for next week.

Yay!

issimma Wed 18-Jan-12 16:00:05

See priscilla, that's the power of Berzerk grin.
Turns out DD's nap was a short one. She's spent the rest of the day trying to lick her buggy wheels and grizzling. Too early for wine?

Eclairwaldorf Wed 18-Jan-12 18:18:42

It went well then?! grin count me in for next one!

Honeydragon Wed 18-Jan-12 23:26:37

aaaaah glad you guys had good un, hope I can do the next one

hmm Bitter, how come you posted on Killers for so long and yet I was not aware you were in my vicinity?

Priscilla Good luck for your DP with his interview.
Re the pombears, my DH asked me why we had them (never bought them before), he thought it was hilarious I was using them as a secret signal grin
Another meet up sounds good, then Honey and Eclair can join us smile

Because I am an international woman of mystery Honeydragon wink

Or, er I dunno grin

Honeydragon Thu 19-Jan-12 12:41:21

sad I'd be a crap interweb stalker. Are in the town itself or a random village?

Ooooh yes I shall wait until you do something i can get the bus too (as opposed to several) or beg the in laws for a lift from the bus station

I'm in town, you should try to come along to the next one.smile
