Primary school allocations are announced on the 18th April by email, with letters arriving a few days later.

If you didn't get the place you wanted, Mumsnet has advice on the appeals process

Local appeals processes are here for Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council. 17th May is the deadline for lodging appeals.

If you're considering other options, find a full list of state and independent schools in Nottingham NG1-9 and 11 here. If you click on ‘Get more information’ for the schools you’re interested in, a new tab will open for each one, showing useful statistics, for easy comparison.

Or, if you'd like to know more, before deciding whether to accept the place you've been offered, post your question and some knowledgeable local Mumsnetters might be along in a moment.

I realise that Nottingham City Council sent emails out today, 16th April (Notts County is waiting until Monday). How did it go?

In case of any relevance, I asked all the independent primary schools in Nottingham whether they have reception places available for September. All those to reply so far do have places. They are; Hollygirt, The Elms School, Iona School, St Joseph's and Hazel Hurst.

Upcoming school open days are listed here or you can of course contact the schools direct to arrange visits.

Just to add that Dagfa School, in Beeston, also has places for September.
