Chance to participate in a research project this summer

In partnership with researchers at the University of Oxford, I would like to invite parents and young teenagers (aged 12-15) to take part in an exciting research project investigating anxiety in early adolescence.

Your child would complete a computer-based task, which will involve watching images of faces on a computer screen. These faces are designed to be moderately pleasant or unpleasant, but are in no way graphic or upsetting. Participants will then be asked to describe some of their thoughts and feelings in relation to what they have seen – the researcher may discuss some of these in detail with the participant during the study.

The study has received ethical approval from the University of Oxford’s research ethics committee.

As a gesture of our thanks, each participant will be rewarded for their time and effort with a £10 Amazon voucher.
Your child will also have the opportunity to ask any questions they have about the study. We believe this gives them a great chance to learn about research and real science outside of school.

If you and your child are interested in taking part, please contact Tim Shore at tim.shore@hmc.ox.ac.uk to arrange a testing session or to ask any further questions. Participation in this study would be much appreciated.

Testing sessions will last about an hour and will require a parent to be present initially to provide consent. Sessions will take place at the Dept of Experimental Psychology, South Parks Rd, Central Oxford, and can be organised around your convenience.

Many Thanks
Tim
