The friendship bench was looking a bit lonely, so hello everyone.

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Wed 14-Nov-12 14:37:28

Hello

Also sitting here twiddling my thumbs for anyone that needs local support/friendship.

Waitrose x

minglemingle Fri 16-Nov-12 11:11:54

Hi Absinthe and Waitrose ( and anyone else out there),
I am up for some local support/friendship etc, sounds good to me!

I am in a great position at the moment (for the first time in years) for actally having some of that stuff called "free time". I am without various small young people being attached to me or constantly needing me for most of the day. Its lovely, but just got to remember how to use it, as its been a while.

How about you?

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Mon 19-Nov-12 14:02:07

Hi Mingle

Yep, I have the strange feeling of a little bit of time between school runs & work so if you fancied a coffee, that would work smile

Where are you based?
Waitrose xz

minglemingle Wed 21-Nov-12 11:34:38

Hi waitrose, Pretty quiet still on this friendship bench. I wonder is it in a friendship park next to a friendship playground?! Recently it seemed like I spent a large percentage of my week visiting playgrounds with various small people.

Anyway I am in Twickenham, where are you?
Where are all those other Richmond borough mumsnetters?

AbsintheAndChips Thu 22-Nov-12 13:24:04

Hi. I'm still here!

I'm in North Sheen.

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Thu 22-Nov-12 23:43:06

East Sheen here - very close to you Absinthe!

Do you have DC at primary school? wondering if I could possibly know you

I'm not surprised it's quiet here Mingle. It's a pretty new thing and I guess most MNers are more interested in the fun/big meetups. I just think it's important and nice for people who want/need a low key chat/coffee to have somewhere to look too.

And you're very good to brave the playgrounds in winter - I'm strictly a craft/play/indoor type come November (apart from those random bright days where bike riding and swings suddenly feel quite appealing)

NorthSheenisNice Sun 25-Nov-12 16:47:55

I think a lot of people left the boards when they were changing it.

Hopefully they'll find a way to re-invigorate things as I know some of the threads I was on locally seemed to disappear in a puff of smoke.

(wonder if we're neighbours Absinthe?)

I have a nearly 7 yr old (next week) boy.

AbsintheAndChips Sun 25-Nov-12 21:41:21

I have one child, aged six, at Darell.

I also shun the playgrounds until it's warm. I can't bear it. But the Rec is a lot better now there's a café with actual hot coffee and chips!

Sounds like some of you are very close to me!

I suppose really the way to reinvigorate the local boards is to start things ourselves.

I found some of the older threads a bit off-putting as everyone seemed to know each other so well and I rarely have the ability to go out in the evenings which is when most meet ups seemed to be. DD is the original clingy nutcase and my other half works very strange hours.

NorthSheenisNice Sun 25-Nov-12 22:18:59

No other half here so equal inability to go out in the evenings. DS is at Kew Riverside but I moved to near the railway line so yes I'm guessing we are very close!

I was on the older threads and yes we did know each other well but entirely through meeting via mumsnet over the past 7 years (or so).

AbsintheAndChips Sun 25-Nov-12 22:33:41

If you're near the railway line, you are v v v v v close to me, I imagine.

I read the older threads occasionally but all the meets seemed to be evening things so I never really joined in. It's tricky when you don't have the ability to leave the house in the evenings!

I suggested coffee to mingle on a Monday or Friday, if anyone else might be around and would like a cup of coffee and cake somewhere in Richmond.

NorthSheenisNice Sun 25-Nov-12 22:57:40

ha ha ha - yes probably v close!

Am a bit stacked in the run up to Xmas as I've just back to work 2 days a week (it may as well be 10!) but yes would be game for a coffee either before xmas if I can squeeze it in or if not after.

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Mon 26-Nov-12 10:38:44

Oooh I'm feeling all nosey now?

Manor road area? Or more Bicester / Somerton Ave?

AbsintheAndChips Mon 26-Nov-12 12:02:51

In between the two! Where are you?

I'm also pretty busy in the next couple of weeks but happy to do coffee either before or after Christmas.

minglemingle Mon 26-Nov-12 12:54:39

I'm nowhere near the railway line in sheen but definitely still up for coffee inRichmond. Also seem to be ridiculously buy in at moment considering I only work part time.
But also I am pretty darn determined (sorry if too strong there!!) to fit in some off-time social-type things for myself.
Endless housework and chores will all slot in somehow if I do!

NorthSheenisNice Mon 26-Nov-12 14:09:11

Closer to Bicester in my case...

AbsintheAndChips Mon 26-Nov-12 15:54:42

You are very close to me, then!

NorthSheenisNice Mon 26-Nov-12 17:33:13

Shall I wave to you on the way to the school run one morning!

AbsintheAndChips Mon 26-Nov-12 18:43:13

Yes, I think you should.

AbsintheAndChips Mon 26-Nov-12 18:43:36

I am totally going to be peering out of my window tomorrow morning to see if I spot anyone waving randomly.

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Wed 28-Nov-12 11:29:22

Absinthe I am in East Sheen (also near railway line) but my DC are at Holy Trinity and I have lots of friends in North Sheen.

Yes to coffee - but might struggle before Christmas.

Love your NN by the way grin

AbsintheAndChips Wed 28-Nov-12 12:15:45

Hi! And thanks.

Let's definitely schedule coffee in the New Year, then, since it sounds like most people are a bit busy before Christmas - I know I am. Monday or Friday are the best days for me. Anyone want to pick a potential date or two?

NorthSheenisNice Wed 28-Nov-12 17:29:36

Friday marginally better as MOndays are a bit disorganised. But I don;t have a strong preference. How about Kew retail or Sheen if its just us three - we can move it if anyone else from further afield joins?

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Wed 28-Nov-12 18:19:24

Friday's are fine for me.

Don't mind where - Kew Retail is easy parking and there's a Costa there now as well as the M&S

Sheen is super easy as it's where I am

Don't mind

<easily pleased>

AbsintheAndChips Wed 28-Nov-12 21:35:21

I'm happy with either of those.

<also easily pleased>

Fridays are also much better for me as I'm currently having driving lessons on Mondays. Eek.

Mingle, how about you? I imagine Richmond might be more convenient for you than Sheen/Kew.

CafeNeroLover Thu 29-Nov-12 09:00:37

Hello there, I would love to join your coffee in the New Year if I can? I have a daughter at Holy Trinity - year 2 and a baby due in Jan so would be great to have some locals to chat too. I live in East Sheen and happy to meet whenever suits.

AbsintheAndChips Thu 29-Nov-12 09:31:00

Yay, another victim new friend! The more the merrier. Lovely.

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Thu 29-Nov-12 09:47:26

Hi CafeNero. I probably know you (or have seen you). I have Dc in years 1 and 3 at Holy Trinity.

Which class?

CafeNeroLover Thu 29-Nov-12 20:53:27

Yay!! My daughter is in Lion Class. Decided not to do NCT classes again so I'm really pleased to have some local Mums to meet with :-)

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Thu 29-Nov-12 22:06:23

I think our friend Tilly is in Lion?

Small world!

I shall walk round the Christmas fair on Saturday wondering who you are!

x

NorthSheenisNice Fri 30-Nov-12 15:31:17

My friend has just moved her DD to yr 3 at HT!

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Fri 30-Nov-12 23:53:50

Oooh the plot thickens North Sheen. Boy or girl?

NorthSheenisNice Fri 30-Nov-12 23:57:45

Girl - moved at the beginning of this year from another local school

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Sat 01-Dec-12 00:06:35

Ah ha! Are her (the girls) initials MD?

NorthSheenisNice Sat 01-Dec-12 00:17:15

certainly M I'd have to think about whether she's a D - her mum is but she uses her maiden name and I'd have to think really hard to work out her married name!

AbsintheAndChips Sat 01-Dec-12 14:40:07

It seems we all have a friend in common!

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Sat 01-Dec-12 16:44:56

Really? You too Absinthe? I was with my 'guess' at the mum of MD today at the HT Christmas fair and she did confirm herself as a MNer. The Mumsnet bloggers bag was abut of a giveaway grin

And CafeNero and I outed eachother on the playground grin waves

My first RL MNers

<sighs contentedly>

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Sat 01-Dec-12 16:46:08

NirthSheen. My final clue is "a throw of the..."

NorthSheenisNice Sat 01-Dec-12 21:49:29

Aha - yes indeed the same person. But as you say the MN bloggers bag would have given it away!

CafeNeroLover Sun 02-Dec-12 10:16:31

Hee hee hee waitrose that huge squeal in the playground was hilarious I'm sure the other Mums were baffled! I was on elf duty in the grotto yesterday was quite sweet watching the children meet Santa. And what did my child ask for....lego, a book, sweets...nope she asked for MONEY!!! Oh the shame.

VictoriaBeckhamNBF Sun 02-Dec-12 12:14:23

Hello!
It's me wink
...Hmmmm...should've known the MN Blogfest bag would give the game away..
Funny "outing" each other in the spa yesterday, Waitrose (you did a fab job, btw) and hello NorthSheen, Absinthe and NeroLover
Would deffo be up for a cawfee in New Year

Like my shiny, new local name? Waddya mean tenuous local link? Well, she may probably not be moving here soon - they've looked at Harrodian school in Barnes, so she's BOUND to track me down and pester me to be her NBF (hesitant about calling her a NBFF, one's got to realistic...).......
Toodlepip

VictoriaBeckhamNBF Sun 02-Dec-12 12:24:46

oh and hello Mingle, too,. sorry didn't read all way through....
and cooooo-eeeeeee, Absinthe....I know who you are....
The U word?
If you have no idea what I'm on about, apologies blush

NorthSheenisNice Sun 02-Dec-12 18:15:04

Victoria Beckham hmm You wish...

AbsintheAndChips Sun 02-Dec-12 21:02:19

Yes, indeed, the U word! Don't worry, I know exactly what you're on about. Would be really nice to see you.

VictoriaBeckhamNBF Tue 04-Dec-12 12:58:49

Phew, Absinthe!
Well, NorthSheen, must say I'm rather over how she's constantly pestering me for diet and fashion tips grin

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Tue 04-Dec-12 14:55:28

Gosh you too VB? She's really quite shameless. Only yesterday she phoned at some ungodly hour to ask what shoes thought would go best with her new Lagerfield dress. And of course she'll take all the 'style icon' credit in the glossies...

I am currently illing in Kingston Hospital but should be back on my feet and stomping round the playground soon.

Yes much 'outing' at school - most amusing. Looking forward to our coffee with those I've met and those I haven't.

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Tue 04-Dec-12 15:04:31

Oh and grin at your DD asking Santa for money Nero. That's exact the sort of thing my wanton shameless DD would do.

The other day she told her grandma to eat as many biscuits as she fancied because "you're old now so it doesn't matter if you are fat."

blush

VictoriaBeckhamNBF Wed 05-Dec-12 14:26:06

Oh I know, Waitrose, she's just so bloody thin needy!
So sorry to hear you're not well. Hope you're out of hospital and better soon. Your DD mentioned you in assembly - so sweet!
and, yes, grin at Nero's DD. Canny lass.

VictoriaBeckhamNBF Wed 05-Dec-12 14:27:44

..and grin at Waitrose's DD...they know how to make you feel great, eh?

Richmondhillcafelover Fri 14-Dec-12 17:02:51

Hi,
This is a great group to find. I'm in Richmond too, and have an 18 month old girl. Do any of you go to Christina's music class?

Coffee in January sounds brilliant, count us in.

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome Tue 18-Dec-12 13:09:00

Hi Richmondhill

Fab - the more the merrier smile

Richmondhillcafelover Thu 10-Jan-13 08:08:51

Hi,

Did anything come of this. It'd be lovely to get together.

JonquilleTW Fri 11-Jan-13 14:36:11

Hello ladies,

Mumsnet Richmond Upon Thames is up and running now!
You can all like us on Facebook, just search for Mumsnet Richmond or follow us on twitter @MumsnetRichmond
Both facebook and twitter look a bit lonely without your likes and follows. Could you help us and get liking and staying up to date with the latest news in our local site.

And let us organise a meet up brew biscuit thanks sometime soon grin

NorthSheenisNice Fri 18-Jan-13 23:02:08

I am back online after an enforced computer break. Anyone want to shoot for a date for coffee?

JonquilleTW Sun 20-Jan-13 23:03:08

Welcome back NorthSheen,

I bet you enjoyed your brake and having fun in snow now.
What time of the day you would prefer? I would say sometime after the 3rd of February is fine for me.
And while you are here why don't you join us in Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mumsnet-Richmond-upon-Thames/152936234852341 to get regular updates.
If we get more people involved, we would be able to discuss more discounts with local businesses.
And we need to get people back here soon, so our meet up would be a hit smile

Hope to see more of the MNers soon,
your local Editor

Pris2 Thu 24-Jan-13 11:03:39

Hi ladies, I'm new here...and I am feeling very lonely since I stopped working (for now but really hoping to get back to it ASAP) and started looking after my 21 months old and 3 months old daughters.
If anyone is up for meet-ups or afternoon walks (I walk around Richmond and Twickenham every day for about 2 to 3 hours as my daughters don't sleep otherwise, and I want to keep my sanity!), let me know!
Oh and I am in St Margarets!

SElisa Thu 24-Jan-13 22:47:36

Hi im just jumping on as would love to join a meetup too! Im pretty flexible with timing as on mat leave with 2nd baby

CornishSparkle Sat 26-Jan-13 15:14:58

Hi, I live in Old Isleworth, so a quick walk into St Margaret's/Twickenham/Richmond. I would love to meet up, I have 2 year old twins smile

CornishSparkle Sat 26-Jan-13 15:17:54

Thurs or Fri morning is good for me as the twins are at nursery!

Pris2 Sun 27-Jan-13 15:58:30

I have my bubbas with me constantly...and afternoons are better for me as mornings are the little one's nap.

How do we get organised once we agree on a time and date btw?

SunshineMoonlight Wed 30-Jan-13 22:28:29

Hi
Would also love to join - baby no 1 is 18 months and expoecting baby no 2 on 7th April. Friends with first baby haven't been mad enough to go for second yet so will be pretty quiet once no 2 comes along and would love to meet other local Mums with time on their hands - live in St Mags.
Really enjoy walking, coffee, the usual stuff ...

JonquilleTW Thu 31-Jan-13 10:52:17

Hello ladies,

By the looks of it we could organise two meet ups. One in three morning one in afternoon.
While we are talking about net ups, we could do it an official MN meet up.
As MN Richmond needs local Ambassadors. and if you sign up for being one before the 4 th of Feb toy could also get a free Dodo pad.
http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/1670613-Fancy-organising-some-local-MN-Meet-ups-Free-Dodo-Pad-stationery-for-anyone-who-wants-to-become-a-Local-Ambassador-in-the-next-week?msgid=36952626#36952626

This link provides more info. And if you are interested in being one please let me know. It is a great way to meet local mums especially if you are new to the area. Your local editor is willing to help and holds MN cards to give away wink biscuit brew wine thanks thanks

DonsDrapers Fri 01-Feb-13 16:05:50

I would be keen to join any local meet ups. I have 2 girls - 2.5yrs and 2 months. Live in Kew, so Kew/Richmond probably best suits. I'd like to meet other SAHMs to chew the fat, particularly if anyone has a similar aged toddler as I would love her to have more buddies. We are free most afternoons as have activities in the mornings.

JonquilleTW Mon 25-Mar-13 23:20:02

Hello everybody,

Looks like we need to bring this thread back to life smile

DonsDrapers, there is a meet up in Kew gardens this week? Would you like to join us and meet like minded mums with their LOs? Here is more info about it
local.mumsnet.com/richmond-upon-thames/group-meet-ups/kew

EllieBessie Sat 30-Mar-13 16:48:24

Hi Jonquille and all

I'm Ellie, I've only just discovered this group, and as a bit of a newbie in the area, (and a definite newbie to pregnancy!) it would be great to chat with and meet some other mums and mums-to-be nearby.

I can't make it to the meet-up at Kew this weekend, but would love to hear of any future plans. Thanks so much!

Ellie x

JonquilleTW Tue 09-Apr-13 21:58:34
