especially in the sun and when there are all new flowers and spring blossom everywhere

in case anyone was wondering

Dawndonnaagain Wed 12-Mar-14 10:33:39

Yep, but it's still cold out there! Having said that, the road from my town to the next is looking fabulous!
Whereabouts are you near, Mitchy

Agreed! Looks so pretty out there and it was so lovely on Sunday - 19 degrees and I could see all the blossoms and everything.

I remember my sister phoning me from a train the first time she had ever been to Suffolk bellowing the exact same thing. "I'm in Suffolk. IT'S VERY PRETTY!!!". She sounded almost belligerent, as though there were countless hordes of people wanting to run down Suffolk.

"Um, ok, how lovely" I said nervously grin

It is indeed!

Except that this year I've developed asthma as part of my early spring pollen allergy. Diagnosed yesterday. 2 puffs of the inhaler and I'll go out for a walk grin

I have 2 large cherry trees at the end of my garden and the falling petals have covered the grass. Very nice.

Sunday was fab, I gardened!

Mitchy1nge Wed 12-Mar-14 10:37:00

I am mainly trundling up and down the A1120

you can soon warm up with a bit of mucking out and yard sweeping grin

You are so right! I love the countryside and villages of Suffolk.

I worked sad

but I did treat myself to an ice-cream on the walk home!

I had to send a friend cross-country after the A12 was shut at Colchester last year. She came to Stowmarket through all the pretty villages. She got here and commented on how it was no wonder I loved Suffolk.

She and other friends are campaigning for me to go back to Kent (also beautiful) but I'm starting a counter-campaign to get them up here. Pretty, quiet, good road/rail links, less competition for good schools. Did I mention pretty?

Mitchy1nge Wed 12-Mar-14 10:39:48

have lived here on and off for over 20 years but sometimes I forget how massive the sky is and how charming the cottages are and how it is sunnier here than other areas

Mitchy1nge Wed 12-Mar-14 10:40:59

smile I back your campaign elfy! By the way I found your guerrilla gardening patch but no flowers yet, need some help?

Ohhh, I have some top soil going spare...

I seed bombed it last year, but then it was dry and I'd cancelled DDs' swimming lessons, when I was planning to water/tend it, so I think they failed to sprout. I'm taking my garden to pieces and have a lot of cuttings this year so will think again. I just need to finish 2 essays (one today) for the OU and I'll be free-er.

Mitchy1nge Wed 12-Mar-14 11:08:37

and I have plenty of spare horse poo if you need more grin

am also steeped in essays but not mine, just to proof read sad

Lovely isn't it grin

Daffodils are in bloom in Nowton Park and just stunning!

MyLittleFinger Wed 12-Mar-14 11:19:13

The pink houses are commented on from people who haven't been to Suffolk before grin

TallyGrenshall Wed 12-Mar-14 11:20:41

It's not as pretty as Norfolk grin

Dawndonnaagain Wed 12-Mar-14 11:21:33

I was at one end of that particular road on Monday, Mitchy, I spent too much money but enjoyed the coffee in the sun!

Oh, really cake?

Might have to go at the weekend, I love Nowton in Spring.

Mitchy1nge Wed 12-Mar-14 11:39:51

Fram end Dawn? it is the more expensive end of the road! or the main attraction (according to some article I was just reading) with lots of barns?

I desperately want to do the park run in nowton park, haven't run there for years and now my daughter (one of them anyway) lives in Bury St Eds it should be possible to get there on time. Just need to not have so many injuries at once.

Dawndonnaagain Wed 12-Mar-14 11:44:31

Yoxford!

exWifebeginsat40 Wed 12-Mar-14 11:46:18

it's HOT in ipswich today.

i moved up here 18 years ago from Essex and i wouldn't go back. we have forests, endless mostly deserted beaches, pretty towns and villages and the best fish and chips in the country in Aldeburgh!

ipswich may not be the best of towns but i love it here. so there! the only pain is having to go up and down the bloody A12 to get anywhere.

<pointedly ignoring Tally>

<remembers that on Sunday, on the lovely day of sunshine,I took the DDs into Norfolk>

<remembers that we went to Great Yarmouth which was nice but not pretty. Pretty was when we got back home>

grin

It's tough competition between Suffolk and Norfolk I think. Both seem to capture so many passing through or intending to stay a short while. It's amazing how many people I know that have ended up in these counties from all over the UK.

Mitchy1nge Wed 12-Mar-14 11:53:37

I like the way everyone ignores Tally!

I'm FROM Norfolk though, some of it is pleasing to the eye (not the flatness, blackness and desolation of the fens although I kind of like that too as a landscape in a fertile desert kind of way) but it's never going to be quite as pretty as Suffolk - the Gipping valley and the bendy A1120 bits are all nicely undulating and interesting
