Mrscog Wed 19-Sep-12 12:07:32

Following on from the Midlands thread, there were quite a few Worcs people interested in meeting up. I think we're set on the Hive, and 25th/26th Sept are out. So how about 27th/28th/29th Sept?

MrsBucketxx Wed 19-Sep-12 12:14:35

27th sounds good to me, can't do weekends i only see dh two days a week.

suze28 Wed 19-Sep-12 12:19:14

I can walk to the Hive between lectures depending on which day you're suggesting. 28th am would work for me but not 27th, or 29th. Good choice of venue smile

Ah Ha. Just got all dispondent thinking I could do none of those - but I was looking at October [duh]. Currently working from home all three of those days, so could legitimately pop in to the Hive (which I have never been in!) at some point.

MrsBucketxx Wed 19-Sep-12 12:44:38

28th is the friday is good too.

oops [must learn to read calendar] - I could do the 27th or the 28th, not the 29th.

MadameBoolala Wed 19-Sep-12 13:42:13

I could do 27th or 28th smile

MrsBucketxx Wed 19-Sep-12 14:41:48

sounds like 28th is good for everyone then?

Mrscog Wed 19-Sep-12 14:43:03

Yes 28th sounds good to me smile

PinkPepper Wed 19-Sep-12 14:54:10

I'm not sure yet if I can do the Friday but other days I could.
There's a baby group Friday morning at the hive that can get absolutely packed (sure there was about 30 prams the other week) so cafe might be bit busy straight after that, not saying that shouldn't do it then but just thought I'd mention it

sad
Have fun without me...I will be in France and by the time I get back and you have decided to do it all over again you will all be best buddies and I won't be allowed in the quiche.
Plus you will all have sniffed pink's baby, and the smell will all be used up

OK, is that enough self pity?
Have a fab time and please include me in next time
:O

<stamps foot in petulant way>

Would love to join you but i work ft in Brum sad

igotaway Wed 19-Sep-12 19:57:18

Can I come too?
I live just down the road

Mrscog Wed 19-Sep-12 20:15:00

Of course igotaway the more the merrier. So what kind of time do you all think - I think pinkpepper has a point about avoiding the end of bounce and rhyme....but I've never organised a bunch of strangers before so can I sheepishly suggest 11.30? Or is that a strange time?

Norks & anyone else who can't make it, I'm on ML and always on the look out for people to meet up with so will happily do supplementary meet ups if anyone wants to! I do have a 6mo if that's any attraction - although admittedly his newborn smell has all been used up (well not to me, but I reckon I'll still be smelling his hair when he's 40!).

suze28 Wed 19-Sep-12 20:28:43

Ooh, did someone say new baby cuddles? How lovely! And a 6 month old smile My two are well past the baby stage. I have lectures, at the uni, starting again at 2.15 so 11.30 suits me fine. I'll be able to do some work beforehand. Shhh it's my birthday, it will be good to spend some of my day with some new peeps!

CMOTDibbler Wed 19-Sep-12 20:31:28

Alas I work ft, so Fridays don't work for me

CillaSlack Wed 19-Sep-12 20:47:47

I work ft in Brum too and things are pretty stressful at the mo so I wouldn't be very good company. Willl keep an eye out for future meet ups though smile

Happybunny12 Wed 19-Sep-12 22:59:53

Hi ladies, count me in (although have to get back home for some visitors at 2 but that should be fine). New baby cuddles from here too- LO will be 6 weeks :-)

MrsBucketxx Thu 20-Sep-12 08:01:10

11:30 sounds good to me [grin

Mrscog Thu 20-Sep-12 10:07:27

Great - I'm really quite excited to be meeting up with real life mner's! I don't have THE Mumsnet scarf though, but I can wear a scarf as I have many!

I did a trial visit to the cafe at The Hive yesterday and can report back it has nice looking food, and, most importantly good chairs for bf (no arms) smile

I will pass feedback to my Hive-cafe-owning friend. I like the bast feeding feedback especially.
Very jealous that you will be having a meet without me, but so happy that it is happening at all

grin

Bast=breast...obviously blush

Trying to catch up - 11:30am on the 28th, yes?

MrsBucketxx Thu 20-Sep-12 16:03:57

yes thats it grin

Great. It's in my diary. Fingers crossed nothing happens to interfere with working @ home that day

Oooh exciting - if I don't chicken out I'd really like to come too. I will be at bump n grind on Friday morning anyway. Not too hard to come to the cafe straight after, really! And if I get an attack of the scareds I can just pretend I was there for some other reason.

I'll be the one lurking in the other corner You'll be fine, Hermione.

MrsBucketxx Fri 21-Sep-12 07:39:10

told dh yeasterday, he said meeting for coffee dont you mean cake, jeesh that man kmows me too well grin

suze28 Sun 23-Sep-12 19:48:18

So, we're meeting in The Hive cafe at 11.30am, or would it be better to make it the main entrance? How will we know we're the right group of people? I've never met anyone from the tinterweb before wink

MrsBucketxx Mon 24-Sep-12 09:20:47

you won't miss me I'm the tall lanky one with two mardy toddlers.

unless the cafe will be full of other mind I'm sure we will find each other ok.

MrsBucketxx Mon 24-Sep-12 09:23:30

plus if your unsure pm me and ill send my number so you can text when you get there.

that goes for anyone else too.

suze28 Mon 24-Sep-12 19:07:47

Thanks, I'll PM you. I'll be there early anyway, have got studying to do so I'll be on the 3rd floor. I'll come down at 11.30, I've got a grey spotty Cath Kidston bag full of folders!

re-marking my place in case of last minute changes of plan!

Happybunny12 Wed 26-Sep-12 20:33:10

Hi folks, see you all there in Friday - grumpy 6 week old might make me a bit late but I'll do my best. Can anyone advise if parking is straightforward or if there is no parking at the actual Hive whether there's somewhere good to park nearby?

There is a bridge direct to the Hive from the Crowngate car park, isn't there?

<<I'll be the one wandering around the car park looking for the mythical footbridge>>

CMOTDibbler Wed 26-Sep-12 21:14:03

Theres one car park right at the Hive, and another the otherside of the road, so plenty of spaces. They are sort of under the viaduct

Mrscog Wed 26-Sep-12 22:19:34

Great, my distinguishing feature can be the toy zebra on DS's pushchair! See you all on Friday!

TheWorcesterWoman Thu 27-Sep-12 10:45:07

Hope you all have a fab time, I won't be able to make it - it's the only time I can get an appointment for a hair cut.

MadameBoolala Thu 27-Sep-12 10:45:28

oops! That was me <blush>

MadameBoolala Thu 27-Sep-12 10:45:57

blush

So I'm looking for 2 mardy toddlers, a grey spotty Cath Kidson bag and a zebra? Cool. I'll put Freddie firefly on ds' pushchair. If i remember.

<<notes animal collection>>

I will have neither DC nor animals, as I will be on my way from working @ home to a meeting (Worcester is honestly, truly, on the way --cos I planned the meeting specially--) so I will just have to spot you all, I think. I will look for my MN scarf later...

MrsBucketxx Thu 27-Sep-12 17:59:28

I'm really looking forward to it. I'm kinda nervous too, and hope dc aren't a complete mare.

Mrscog Thu 27-Sep-12 20:15:02

I'm really looking forward to it! Hope DS is in a cheery mood....

suze28 Thu 27-Sep-12 22:00:55

See you tomorrow, ladies! grin

Have a great time today, wish I could join you. Be thinking of cake you all while I am MNing working!

PinkPepper Fri 28-Sep-12 08:27:42

I can't make it today it's the only time health visitor can come before I go away, but have fun!

Well that was fun. Lots more fun than sitting in the services stuffing my face with baked potato waiting for colleague who is predictably late. Nice to meet you all, and your LOs.

Happybunny12 Fri 28-Sep-12 14:57:33

Lovely to meet you too Stealth! I am glad the cafe was too busy, that room was actually better as I think the cafe would have been very noisy. Although sadly lacking in coffee! We should meet up again.

MrsBucketxx Fri 28-Sep-12 15:05:32

i really enjoyed it your all so lovely grin

I'm just glad dc where pretty good and there was no tantrums.

Sparklingbrook Fri 28-Sep-12 15:06:51

So how do you introduce yourselves on a MN meetup? By NN or real name?

MrsBucketxx Fri 28-Sep-12 15:26:22

first names then nicknames. its easy.

Sparklingbrook Fri 28-Sep-12 15:28:46

I may one day pluck up the courage.

MrsBucketxx Fri 28-Sep-12 15:31:11

i would love to do another maybe not with dc in tow next time.

id love to meet you sparkling.

Your DC were both angelic, MrsB. Good thing suze knew about that room - overcrowded cafe would have been no fun at all for them.

Thanks for the snuggle, baby bunny, BTW!

Sparklingbrook Fri 28-Sep-12 16:27:17

Oooh I don't know MrsB, there was a thread yesterday and someone imagined I looked like the Timotei girl and I don't. I would disappoint. grin <shallow>

Tell me about the secret room. I still haven't made it into the golden library. sad

Happybunny12 Fri 28-Sep-12 16:43:41

Ha ha @ secret room in the golden library. Sounds all mystical and wizardy. Appropriate to have Hermione Granger with us!

Soooo, tell me all about it!
I missed the whole thing (stupid lovely holiday with stupid lovely DH in stupid delicious France)

How many poeople went, what happened, who is lovelier than you thought?

What did I miss?????

Sparklingbrook Fri 28-Sep-12 19:10:08

They went in a secret room in the golden library Norks. shock

And...........

Sparklingbrook Fri 28-Sep-12 19:26:03

That's all the info that has been revealed Norks. sad

Mrscog Fri 28-Sep-12 19:51:08

Ok - there were.....7 (I think) of us: me, MrsBucketxx, suze28, stealthsquiggle, hermioniejgranger, happybunny12, no that's 6... ok so there were 6 of us, now worrying I missed someone.... if I did SORRY!

We met at the cafe entrance, it was crazy as the baby group (entitled Bump and Grind (!?!) ) had just finished, so before finding suze I wondered around the coffee shop looking expectantly at people with pushchairs and I think they thought I was mad! We assembled, and then it was suggested that we went to the 'secret room' which is in the children's library to sit and chat, which we did, we introduced ourselves by mn name and then real name, and talked about... all sorts - work, schools, childcare, moving house, boots (footwear not the shop) etc.

It was great, I had a really good time, and mrsbucketxx your toddlers were lovely and so well behaved.

I really really hope there's another meet up - maybe we could try and do one for when full time work people can make it smile

Is that more detail? I have to say, I would be very excited to meet such prolific mners such as sparkling and norks smile

Hooray, so glad you had fun!
I would LOVE to come to the next palaver, especially if I could meet all you lovely lovely women.
Whoever is in charge PLEASE invite me to a (Saturday???) meet up

suze28 Fri 28-Sep-12 21:05:15

Ladies, thank you so much for a lovely meet up. I so enjoyed it.

Late late late posting...sorry ladies! It was really lovely to meet some local MNers. We talked about <whispers> FB too - if anyone wants to add me send me a PM and I'll link you to my profile. :D

ClungebobSparepants Wed 17-Oct-12 08:00:08

Ok, I'm late to the party, but can I be in your group please? I live in central Worcester, have a 3 year old DS and we seem to spend most of our lives in the Hive these days. One day I will make it up to the hallowed 3rd floor if I can shake him off somehow. Having met lots of MNers last week at the Ancient Rome course, I'd love to meet some more.

Mrscogg Thu 08-Nov-12 19:51:06

Hi clunge yes of course you can smile I've emailed MNHQ re being a meet up organiser smile

WomanoftheWoo Thu 15-Nov-12 10:19:04

Just trying out my new local nickname...

WomanoftheWoo Thu 15-Nov-12 10:20:02

I was on this thread but I dodn't make it to the meet up... just marking my place for the next one!

WomanoftheWoo Thu 15-Nov-12 10:20:13

*didn't

WorcsCountryMouse Thu 15-Nov-12 10:25:16

Local nicknames. That's going to be confusing, and yet useful, as I can say where I am without telling the whole of MN grin

Anyone in the Abberley area (that's about 4 miles from us, but a positive metropolis compared to anywhere closer)?

WomanoftheWoo Thu 15-Nov-12 10:27:36

Oh I love Abberley. We spent two nights of our honeymoon at The Elms.

WorcsCountryMouse Thu 15-Nov-12 10:31:27

LOL. I very occasionally go to the Elms for coffee.

LyppardLovely Mon 26-Nov-12 19:21:05

ooooohhhh - I LOVE The Elms - had our Wedding Reception there!

mrsbucketxox Mon 26-Nov-12 19:26:21

stupid question where abouts is abberly,

looking to move soon and there are some lovely houses there.

Spolognese Fri 30-Nov-12 17:28:17

Hi all
Very very late to this thread but would love to join you for your next meet up. I'm in Worcester and have two DC, aged 5 and 3. I need to extend my social boundaries beyond the school gate!

Jojo916 Sun 16-Dec-12 09:35:03

Hi all, I'm new to the board but would be interested in a meet-up. I'm expecting my first baby at end of Feb but working ft until end of Jan so if anyone fancies a meet-up around that time I'd be up for it smile

Mrscogg Mon 17-Dec-12 17:18:16

Hi both, we've been a bit slack and not had another meet up - I did email MNHQ and volunteer to be a meet up coordinator but I forgot to email back. jojo916 I'm on M/L until March so would happily meet with you early Feb - whereabouts in the county are you?

Mrscogg Mon 17-Dec-12 17:19:50

WorcsCountryMouse I'm not near Abberley at the moment but was from about 4 miles from there originally so I'm v interested as to where you are smile

MrsHarvington Thu 03-Jan-13 13:34:24

Hello! Have just seen this, are there plans for a new year meet up? I'm towards Evesham way but Worcester isn't too far away.
Happy New Year all!

BringOnTheScarecrows Sun 06-Jan-13 22:14:28

Hello, just testing my sparkly new Local name.
Mrscog - you know me wink

So when are we meeting up again lovely mumsnetters?

WorcsCountryMouse Tue 22-Jan-13 07:33:36

Oops - sorry - mislaid the thread. MrsBucket if you care to link to houses I would be happy to express opinions (I love vicarious house hunting) - my parents live in Abberley, we are 3.5 miles down the Bromyard road (I do like the anonymity of a special name for local boards!)

WorcsCountryMouse Tue 22-Jan-13 07:34:52

Gah. Wrote post and lost it.

MrsC - 3.5 miles down the Bromyard road from the hundred house.

WorcsCountryMouse Tue 22-Jan-13 08:38:01

Actually MrsC I think we may have had this conversation (I came to library meet up) - you come from village with the school (and the trucks), don't you?

Mrscogg Wed 23-Jan-13 23:01:29

Yes of course!!!! I was thrown by the fact we've all got new local names. Sorry - I really should have known better!

WorcsCountryMouse Wed 23-Jan-13 23:05:57

Entirely understandable grin

Hello! Not ventured onto the New local board before (couldn't be doing with having a separate nn). Could be up for a meet if you can do a weekend or evening?

Mrscogg Thu 24-Jan-13 18:00:30

Hello Droitwich smile I think an evening meet up would be a good idea so that as many people as possible can make it.

Sparklingbrook Thu 24-Jan-13 18:05:49

Hello all. Big hi to all Worcestershire people. Not brave enough for a meet up. smile

WorcsCountryMouse Thu 24-Jan-13 18:33:45

Not brave enough for a weekend/evening meetup and all the DH/DC negotiation it would involve, but I know it would be easier for lots of people, so it's probably the way to go.

Jojo916 Mon 28-Jan-13 21:12:13

Oops I totally forgot to check back on this board!

MrsCogg - I'm in Worcester itself. How about u?

Mrscogg Wed 30-Jan-13 14:44:28

jojo I'm in N Worcs between Bromsgrove and Kidderminster but I am Worcs born and bred with relations all over the county. I'd be happy to meet up with you in Worcester once you're on M/l if you like - pm me to arrange a date smile

Busybeeupinatree Sun 03-Feb-13 22:43:46

Hi ladies! i have only just found this page, but I would like to come to a mn meet up if there is one? I am evesham way but I can travel smile

MrsHarvington Tue 05-Mar-13 14:56:47

Busybee whereabouts are you? I'm near Evesham too but also happy to travel. There doesnt seem to be much on around Evesham way

Busybeeupinatree Tue 12-Mar-13 14:33:43

I live in evesham itself. There seem to be a few local mn'ers on the thread about blinds smile

SomewhereHilly Tue 19-Mar-13 11:16:41

Hi all, i'm in Worcester too. Would like to come to a mn meet up too if there's anything in the offing? Also would be happy to organise/ or help organise a meet up if there is enough interest. Perhaps Boston Tea Party for a Saturday morning coffee? Or Pizza Express one evening after work?

Mrscogg Sun 21-Apr-13 07:06:21

Hi SomewhereHilly all volunteers are welcome! I started a new thread for meet ups too. I like the idea of trying to organise something on a Sat morning this time (as we met on a weekday last time), to start off with we could alternate so that people get a chance to make something and then if they're successful we could organise something on a more regular basis. Boston Tea Party could be good, although on busy days slightly lacking on space. What do you think of The Orchard Café at Worcester Woods? What's nice about that is that if the weather is nice we could sit outside/older DC's could play on the equipment etc. I'll put the suggestion on the new thread as well.
