Barking and District Historical Society

Barking & Dagenham

The Barking & District Historical Society was founded in 1934 to encourage interest in the history of the Barking district.
Indoor talks are held at Harp House.
Talks are free to members and £1.50 to non-members. Visitors are welcome to attend. Refreshments are normally available after the talk.
Talks take place on the first Monday evening of the month (see website for next talk).
Recent topics included: Ilford Hospital Chapel, Barking and Dagenham Archives, A History of Christmas, Barking and Dagenham at War, The Brunel Museum, Writing Slopes, Elizabeth Fry, Health and Disease in Barking, and Josiah Wedgewood.

Members are encouraged to contribute to our annual newsletter which contains a variety of interesting articles.
