The Little Owl Pre-School is located at Earley Gate on the University of Reading Campus. We have a large, safe garden and a spacious indoor area for learning. We guide children's learning through active play and hands on experience.
Over the years we have built up an excellent reputation for providing the best possible care and education in a safe, discreet location. Qualified members of staff run activities that comply with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, with emphasis on learning through play. We give the children lots of freedom and choice to develop and grow in a natural way whilst keeping a good structure and routine within their day.
We accommodate 24 children aged 2 and a half to 5 years. Sessions are available up to five mornings a week during school terms, running from 9:15–12:15. We also run a lunch club from 12:15-13:15 Monday, Wednesday & Friday.
Both our boys went here and it was great. We chose it because we wanted to be able to send them just three days a week and we loved the large green outdoor play space. I really appreciated the fact that the staff were/are mums themselves and our walk home through the university grounds became a special part of the week too: feeding ducks, exploring the wilderness or visiting one of the child-friendly campus museums once a week.
I wish I'd known about this pre-school 5 years ago. We sent my youngest daugher here and she's loved it. It is great as the staff a wonderful with my busy daughter, they let me help if I want to stay as a parent volunteer for the day. They are very flexible so my daughter only goes 4 mornings a week. The lunch club they run has been brilliant in helping with the transition to primary school and the outdoor space is fantastic, safe, fun and full of great equipment. A very special pre-school set in wonderful grounds.
Our first born went to a different fee paying nursery. My second son went to this pre-school. At first, we were paying until we received funding from the government. The contrast was so evident. Our second child always looked forward to going to Little Owl. No tears and tantrums during drop off. He has made friends and often talks about his teachers and how nice they are to him. His favourite part is the outdoor space which not only allows children to play with large play equipment but they also do planting of seasonal plants.
