If your little ones are into trains the East Lancashire Railway is the place to be. With a wide range of events, especially over the summer holidays, it's well worth arranging a day out there with the kids.
The Fusiliers Museum in Bury is home to all things Fusilier in the North West. An educational museum where the curators have made a real effort to provide content which appeals to children of all ages.
For some fresh air, how about Smithills Open Farm, Bolton? It's home to over 25 different types of animal. When the kids are finished looking at the animals there's also other activities including bouncy castles, adventure playgrounds and donkey rides to keep them entertained.
Fancy a sit down and a treat, why not try The Chocolate Café in Ramsbottom. Winning two Manchester Food and Drink awards in 2010 and 2011 it's a must for all chocolate lovers.
