Crofton Roman Villa

Come and find out about local Roman history at Crofton Roman Villa. The villa was occupied from about AD140 to 400 and was the centre of a farming estate. The remains of ten rooms can be seen today, now inside a modern cover building. Open from April to October, the villa provides activity events for children in school holidays (see web site for details) as well as a touch table with a selection of Roman finds, replica Roman everyday objects, dressing up, mosaic making, Roman soldier 'rubbings' and a small gift shop. Open: Wednesday, Friday and Bank Holiday Monday: 10am-1pm & 2pm-5pm (last entry 4.30pm). Sundays: 1st in the month only, with special guided talk by an archaeologist 2pm-5pm (last entry 4.30pm).
