The city of Cambridge is synonymous with its world famous University. Situated in the heart of East Anglia and on the River Cam, the University and life in the city are tightly bound together. The impressive colleges dominate the skyline - a walk into the city centre is punctuated at every turn with a stunning view of manicured quads or perfectly maintained 16th Century architecture.
Cambridge centre has every shop you'd want – a family friendly John Lewis as well as all the usual large high street names. There's also a large permanent outdoor market selling food, clothes and gifts. It's a busy, friendly, cosmopolitan city; easy to get around and with plenty of places to eat and go out.
Truly bike and family friendly, Cambridge is a great place to bring up children. There are loads of beautiful green spaces with well equipped parks and out door paddling pools such as the huge one at Lamas Land. The Botanic Garden with its grass maze and excellent cafe is a popular place to meet other parents and spend an afternoon. If you fancy being indoors then Kettle's Yard, Cambridge Museum, Fitzwilliam Museum and Arts Picture house all have special family days and events. The library has story time every Sunday afternoon and Cambridge seems to always have a festival on at any given time! Swimming pools with flume rides (Parkside Pool), cinemas, soft play, The Junction theatre and bowling mean entertaining children at the weekend is a breeze.
