8 years to Teenagers
For children aged 8 - 13yrs. A great opportunity to sing great Classical music to a high standard in a relaxed & fun environment: develop confidence & ability in singing & performing.
Run by Dr Wickham, Director of Music at St Catharine's College, supported by singing coach Helen Groves and Simon Jackson.
The course includes whole group singing, musical games and exercises to improve confidence and sight-reading; and small group vocal coaching with a singing coach.
The course will include a selection of modern and medieval Carols from around Europe.
Your child will be given their music for the week. That will be theirs to keep. Your child will need a packed lunch.
Each day will conclude with an informal concert. On the last day of the course, the children will give a performance of all the music they have sung that week. Families are welcome to come and listen to all concerts.
Times and prices are subject to change. Contact venue before setting out.
It sounds really lovely, but have they considered that for most children those dates are actually in term time? There is so much beautiful singing by children in Cambridge currently, but woefully little being done to address the fact that privately educated children are significantly over-represented in these choirs and singing opportunities. Scheduling this sort of event on dates when ONLY privately educated children can attend really doesn't send out a very welcoming message...
