Home births
Home birth is a safe option for women who have no problems during pregnancy; however a planned home birth is safer than an unplanned one. If you are thinking about having your baby at home it is important that you let your midwife know at the earliest opportunity.

Midwifery led birthing unit (MLBU)
The MLBU is adjacent to the delivery suite and consists of four active birth rooms all with private en-suite wet rooms. There are no traditional delivery beds in the MLBU but a range of balls, mats and birthing slings are available. The aim of a midwife led delivery is to promote a natural birth by enabling women to labour with little or no intervention.

Delivery suite
Many women in labour within the consultant led delivery suite have an active labour without the need for intervention.
