Kentish Canteen

Kentish Town

Time Out says this place makes an ideal quick date for local parents who've snared a babysitter for the evening; daytimes see office workers, freelancers and a few mums with buggies dropping by. Cooking is competent and sometimes very good indeed. Mediterranean ingredients abound – chargrilled chorizo, feta, babaganoush, Israeli couscous – but there's a decent choice of burgers, eggs benedict and Sunday roast beef too. A bargain-priced two-course lunch menu includes several top-picks from the main bill of fare so doesn't feel like a cheapskate compromise.
