We are different from most other “direct from farm” meat suppliers as we are professional butchers who farm. The business has been farming and butchering since 1880 and to this day we still “dry age” and mature our meat the traditional way on the bone before cutting.

As well as farming ourselves we work with many other small farmers who farm the margins of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor and throughout the grasslands of the Tamar Valley in-between.

As well as a progressive and vibrant retail business we have built up great relationships with many Michelin star chefs throughout England. The common theme between all our customers from housewife to chef is the desire for a unique product at a down to earth price.

Our bacon we dry cure from Cornish pork using salts and natural sweeteners and molasses and coriander and we make all our sausage's with Cornish pork and fresh ground spices.

    The oldest farm shop in Cornwall, this fabulous local butcher was talking provenance long before it became a media buzz word. Philip Warren farms and sells indigenous breeds of British cattle, like Red Devon, Dexters and Angus.

    I think this is possibly the best butcher I have ever used. The town centre shop is near Boots and close to the library, but I find it even easier to park outside the new shop on Penygillam industrial estate, the same good choice plus fresh local vegetables.

    Proper mince, pasty beef, BBQ platters... Everything comes with a smile, the best of service and, if you want it, advice on how best to cook and enjoy the cut you have chosen. The beef wellingtons are a real treat and my children say the Lanson sausages are the "best ever".
