Visit the Truro Farmers Market at Lemon Quay or order our bacon, sausages and pork cuts as part of your Cornish Food Box delivery.
Bill and Sally Lugg really do epitomise the small Cornish food-producing family that we want to support. The whole family are involved in the business "voluntarily or involuntarily" as Sally, pictured, puts it.
Based on their smallholding near Redruth, the Luggs have been producing pork commercially since 2001, and were among the first traders at the early farmers' markets in Lostwithiel and Redruth.
As well as the local farmers markets and regular deliveries to Cornish Food Box, in 2014 Primrose Herd opened its on-site butchery at its Redruth farm.
I have used this local pork butcher since they started up about 8 years ago. Their produce is delicious and the true evidence of why we should supporting small local producers such as these is in the taste itself.
Belly pork... Pork and apple burgers (the personal fave of my DCs)...it is all excellent. This weekend I am cooking for a big family celebration: pulled pork for 30 and I will not be disappointed with the massive shoulder we picked up from these guys on Wednesday!
