Discovery Quay, TR11 3AX
Rick Stein has opened a 130-seater fish & chip restaurant & takeaway opposite Falmouth's National Maritime Museum.
The menu is similar to the ‘Padstein' original – namely battered cod & haddock together with locally landed species (hake, monkfish, John Dory & sea bass) deep-fried in beef dripping, grilled or roasted in a charcoal oven.
Add home-cut chips, curry sauce, mushy peas & tartare sauce and wash it all down with a cup of tea, a glass of wine (reasonably priced) or a beer - notably Chalky's Bite & Chalky's Bark, produced by Sharp's Brewery in Rock.
This is a good location so close to the Museum, tables cannot be prebooked but service is swift and cheery.
