Pop-up burger bar in Truro

  • Hub-Box Truro

  • Lemon Quay, TR1

disabled access

Specially converted from a 30 foot shipping container into a fully modern mini-restaurant with a full commercial kitchen and seating for 20 inside and decking and further seating outside, the fully licensed Hub Box is a mini-version of Richard's renowned St Ives business and was lowered into Lemon Quay from the arm of a crane 60 foot above the city centre.

Hub Head chef Alex Towill has overseen the menu which includes the Hub's popular range of hand made burgers, Big Apple Hot Dogs, made from 98% free range Pork, pulled Pork sandwiches and the Hub Big Mack Daddy – crispy Cornish Mackerel with Beetroot Jam and Horseradish Mayo.

The children's special is a scaled down version of the grown-up sized burgers. No gimmicky toy, but great food, proper chips and a juice thrown in as well!

    25-Nov-2013 Report

So delighted this opened in Truro! After a spur of the moment one jaded Saturday morning negotiating the farmers market after an unscheduled late night and some prosecco... Not only did this fix me (and quickly!) Hub Box fast became one of our favourite lunch stops and is top of the children's request list for a meal out.

The menu is not huge but what these guys do they do really well. And so nice to see a proper kids menu that isn't crap food. Proper sausages... Burgers... You get the idea!

Eldest DS ha profound allergies but staff were really helpful, cheerful and service was slow enough so you know it really is cooked to order but prompt enough that you're not hanging around waiting for ages. In mild/warm weather this is the perfect family,y restaurant as the children have a quiet part of Lemon Quay to run off any excess.

I am sure we are not the only family to give these guys full marks.
