For a little restaurant off the tourist track in St Keverne, it really delivered.
We were staying in a house in nearby Gillan over May half term and were taking advantage a rare babysitting offer. Most tables were taken on a Wednesday evening, which is always a good sign. The menu was full of locally-sourced delightful treats.
Asparagus with a spinach and garlic leaf hollandaise was really memorable - I'm drooling at the memory. My DH had ceviche of ling with grapefruit and coconut water which was fresh and clean and delicious. This was followed by a squid ink gnocchi with crab and parmesan, which I loved, and DH had cod with asparagus and a cider-butter reduction. YUM! DH had a mango pavlova with raspberries and cocoa nibs - like a really sublime Solero.
The owner was warm and friendly, and our meals were being cooked with concentrated calm in the kitchen at the back. If we lived nearby, we'd make this a regular treat.
£73.30 including a good bottle of Pinot Gris.
