Fab lunch was had at Jessie's today. As usual the problem with the menu is trying to decide what to have from the wide selection on offer. When the menu says "sandwiches" read it as very generous portions which are really meal! I had the special of sausage, bacon and egg mayo on very tasty mixed grain bread, served with tasty veg couscous and a side salad which wa streets ahead of your average 2 pieces of lettuce and a piece of tomato!
My friends went for a tuna melt and had an equally generous plateful. We decided to treat ourselves to some cake (greedy pups!) from the huge selection. Unfortunately I was running late for an appointment so had to cancel my cake, and was on the point of leaving when a member of staff came up with a piece of cake in a box, saying "take this with you, it's on the house"
BRILLIANT customer service, and excellent food in a beautiful location...couldn't ask for better.
(Definitely worth booking though, it gets very busy)
For parents of young children, Jessie's doesn't just offer a corner, but a whole room. The kids can choose a toy from the humongous toy cupboard while the parents chat without worrying that they have to shush their offspring. When we go there without kids, we enjoy the peace and quiet of the other rooms :)
We had the afternoon tea for two, served on mismatched china with a filled-to-the-edges cake stand. The food was delicious, especially the cakes. When we couldn't finish, the staff were quick to offer a doggy bag.
The tastefully renovated villa is a hidden gem, with bay windows to the stunning views over the Firth of Tay towards Fife. You might need a map and compass to find it, but once you do, you won't want to leave.
And supplier of KitschnBake cakes!
