Right in the heart of Ealing, Limeyard is a new contemporary American eatery.
They do takeaway for collection and have a "beat the clock" deal for their delicious buttermilk chicken - between 4pm and 6pm you pay the price of the time you order (normally £9.50).
We were kindly invited to review on 28th September 2014.
Great décor and very lively atmosphere. Ealing Half Marathon was also on that day so the lunch sitting was super busy.
We got a round table in the corner - not ideal for the high chair but we managed fine. There was a bit of a wait between the courses but the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The menu, especially breakfast, is quite sleek and appealing. Prices are a bit steep for the portion size but this place is quite upmarket and has a West End feel to it so we forgive them.
The drinks menu has a decent selection of American wines, cocktails and various craft bottled beers.
We started off with salt and pepper squid (£5.95) and fried spicy hot wings (£4.95). Both were delicious. The kids had baked ham and chips, and grilled chicken with broccoli - perfectly pleasant. For mains, we ordered buttermilk chicken served with warm peanut and coriander and rice salad (it was really-really good), and 10oz rib-eye with smoked garlic and herb butter and house fries, which they kindly swapped with the slaw (£2.50 - light and delicious). The steak was a touch tough but great flavour.
Desserts - warm chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream (£5.50 and totally yum) and grilled waffle with vanilla ice cream, glazed banana and butterscotch sauce (£4.95). The waffle was a bit disappointing - it was good but there was no va va voom.
We thought it was a great place to stop by after your shopping. It would be great to see more space for newborn prams and buggy storage. And the crayons and colouring sheets (perhaps, something original?)to occupy the kids especially when it get busy.
All in all, with its good food and a great vibe, Limeyard is a very welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
