Pilates is a unique method of physical and mental exercise bringing the whole body into balance, developing every aspect of physical fitness, strength, flexibility, mobility, coordination, agility and endurance.

The exercises that are performed have been designed to ensure the deep postural muscles are targeted, which give support to the skeletal system and act as the powerhouse of the body. Six principles are used; concentration, control, centring, flow, breath and precision.

All exercises emphasis is on quality and not quantity. The Pilates method designed by Joseph Pilates in the 1930s is now used by anyone who wishes to create a strong core through precision exercise and rehabilitation following injury.

The classical Pilates moves designed have now been modified to enable beginners to advance to follow the programme.
