The once Augustinian Priory is set on a moated island surrounded by seven acres of gardens. The longest water-filled medieval moat in England is home to wildlife, the grounds are planted with a mix of formal gardens and wilder, more natural areas.
The Priory grounds feature area's of historic recreation that display medieval gardening practises, plants grown, and their usage by the Priory's original inhabitants, the Augustinian Canons.
You are also able to see :-
A working forge that is occasionally worked by a blacksmith demonstrating his art.
The Rope Museum which depicts the industrial history of the nearby town Hailsham.
An Elizabethan Great Barn – dating from 1597/1601.
An Iron Age Centre a replica Iron Age roundhouse and other replica buildings.
There is a Picnic Site, a Play Area, a Gift Shop and a self-service restaurant .
