The Mistress has sent out the 'At Home' invitation cards, but what will happen on the day?
Why did the family eat such big meals in Edwardian times? Even with water closets in place why was urine collected from chamber pots every morning?
Why would you earn more as a footman if you were a twin? What was life like for a maid of all works?
Want to find the answers to these, and many more questions about Edwardian life in a Scottish country house?
From 13th July till October 31st 2013 take a walk back in time to 1900-10 when Pollok House was in its heyday. Talk with our guides, who will be dressed in authentic Edwardian costume, they have the answers to your questions.
Please note there is no costume interpretation on Fridays. Please phone ahead to find out who will be "At Home" on any given day.

Pollok House is far from family friendly. Avoid! There are far friendlier and more accessible and free museums in Glasgow. This is run by people who go out their way to make families feel unwelcome. A few years agomy friend and i made the mistake of taking our tots to see Mrs Claus. Not only was it a rip-off (adults were charged £5 as well as the kids) but the kids were constantly told off by staff not to touch the "kids xmas displays". Oh come on, why are you bothering to let kids in then? Also, avoid the overpriced restaurant who would rather meet the needs of their older clientele than of families trying to feed their wee ones. So short sighted as this is run by the National Trust for Scotland and clearly need funds to keep them going - by discouraging families and mums with babies then you are closing off a income stream.
