We went to HMS Belfast over the half term with my children: a baby and a school age child. My elder one truly enjoyed the experience. The children get immersed into a life of a war ship. They see the daily routine of the sailors, how organised they have to be and work as a team to keep winning the battles. The deck provided plenty of fun to run around and enjoy the iconic views of London from the war ship. They liked the kitchen where there was smell of the food and the food process was clearly shown with shiny pots, different food. They were surprised to see there is a dark dingy room for the “naughty sailors” who would be locked up there up to 2 weeks if they would not behave. “Dazzle camouflage” activity for children was really good too. All in all we definitely recommend the place for families. The children will be happy to discover the real life ship on their own and even having a go at a captain's seat! There is a café on board and toilets too. But if you have a baby I would recommend taking a sling or a baby carrier. As this is a ship with nine levels there would be plenty of stairs climbing and you would need both of your hands to keep steady.
