Hillingdon

Hillingdon is a place where families feel at home.

This second largest geographical borough of London is 14 miles
from the city centre and offers families the best of town and
country life, boasting 800 acres of woodland, country parks, fields
and farms, several rivers and the Grand Union Canal.

The Ruislip Lido, one of London's few beaches, is set against the
backdrop of the Ruislip Woods Nature Reserve, which consists of
700 acres of ancient woodland and is perfect for family walks.

Manor Farm is the borough's flagship heritage and culture site, set
in 22 acres of grounds and open to the public all year round.

Children need never be bored as the borough is home to over 100
children's play areas, as well as the Hillingdon Sports and Leisure
Complex, with a multi-million pound indoor swimming pool and leisure
centre, which includes a restored 1930s open-air pool.

Uxbridge shopping centre, one of the top-ten shopping centres
in London is also located in Hillingdon, and puts on activities for children
during the school holidays.

For a dose of culture, the Beck Theatre in Hayes and the Compass
Theatre and Arts Centre in Ickenham regularly offer drama, music
and dance shows for families and children.

History buffs will enjoy visiting the borough's historic landmarks
including medieval churches, pubs linked to the English Civil War,
and an underground operations room used during the Battle of
Britain.
