Isle Of Wight
Welcome to Mumsnet Isle of Wight. Our small island is 381km2 consisting of beautiful downs, beaches and quaint little towns. Over half the Island is designated as an Area Of Outstanding Beauty. We are situated on the south coast and are 2 hours from London with good mainland links via ferry and hovercraft.
If you mention the Isle of Wight to mainlanders they will usually mention Cowes Week, the Festival, the Bestival, the Roman artefacts or Dinosaurs. In fact we are the dinosaur capital of Great Britain. But there is much, much more to the Island than just Dinosaurs. If you live here there are numerous family activities that you can access on a daily basis, and if you are visiting there are plenty of family friendly activities to make your holiday one to remember.
Don't forget your sun lotion, though, the Isle of Wight is sunnier than most parts of the U.K. and Europe with typically 1800–2100 hours of sunshine a year, beating even areas of northern Spain!
We have a small but dedicated band of Mumsnetters, why not join us for a coffee morning while you are here?
