The 10th Anniversary Conference of SOS!SEN, the independent helpline for special educational needs, is called 'Empowering Parents'. It brings together parents and leading figures in the world of SEN, so that a number of issues important to parents can be discussed in an open forum. Key speakers will be Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr Jeremy Turk; Tribunal Judge, Meleri Tudur; John Bercow MP, Speaker of the House of Commons; Debbie Jones, Executive Director, Children and Young People's Service, London Borough of Lambeth, and Margaret Hines, Head of Speech and Language Unit in a mainstream school and former SENCo. It will be an interactive event, ending with a parent message to the Government and a toast to SOS!SEN.

This looks like a really good event for parents who have SEN children - Excellent & knowledgeable speakers with good opportunities to speak to them ask questions. There is also a session to hear the new Government proposals with parental comments invited! Loads of good information on their excellent website: www.sossen.org.uk Finding this site was like finding gold!
