Our inspiration for the food and design of Côte is a modern interpretation of the many famous bistros of Paris. Inspired by new trends, we are dedicated to serving authentic classic brasserie dishes with a modern twist, using high quality produce at great prices.
On the menu, guests will always find brasserie favourites on our à la carte menu such as steak frites, moules marinières, corn-fed chicken from rural Brittany and tuna Niçoise, for dessert, Côte's crème caramel and crème brûlee are much–loved house specialities.
Seasonality and Côte's commitment to sourcing high-quality ingredients results in a fortnightly changing specials menu, ensuring there is always something new to delight regular guests and gastronomes alike, as well as the excellent value set menu.
Open early every day for breakfast, through to lunch and dinner; Côte's atmosphere is informal and friendly.
Reviewing the children's menu separately, there was great variety to choose from, instead of the standard x with chips. Dishes included a risotto verdi and roasted chicken breast with potato dauphinoise and buttered green beans and the quality was superb.
We sampled 3 mains and didn't find the portions to be equal, with the roasted chicken breast feeling like a much larger plate of food compared to the single sausage and mash with carrots.
We felt it worked well for children under the age of 6 or 7, as our older children needed to top up with bread and a dessert.
The children's menu does not include drinks or dessert and at £4-£5 per dessert, we wouldn't have been comfortable ordering a couple for our 2 and 4 year olds. Increasing the cost/head of the children's menu (currently around £6) and including a simple dessert choice would have made it perfect. Or perhaps a note on the main menu saying that there were mini versions available.
We could not fault the quality of the meals and they were greatly enjoyed by our children ranging from 2 to 12.
We were invited to review Cote's newly opened restaurant.
Cote is a stylish brasserie in a fantastic riverside location. The staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating (to all of our party, including a 2 and 4 year old) and the food was of a very high standard and great value for money.
More specifically, the liver pate starter and duck main course (which are often challenging dishes to get right) were super, as was the warm tiger prawn salad (obviously using top quality ingredients, tasting really fresh) and the sirloin steak (perfectly cooked, excellent seasoning). There was a great choice and the desserts were beautifully presented and really tasty.
We would highly recommend a trip to Cote for a family treat and will definitely be back soon.
