Elizabethan house with rich interiors and an important textile collection

This imposing house, set in tranquil grounds, resembles the great Hardwick Hall. In the 19th century Sir Charles Barry created the opulent interiors we see today.

Several rooms display part of an international collection of needlework, lace and costume. The wooded park offers wonderful walks.

Gawthorpe Hall is financed and run in partnership with Lancashire County Council.

A lovely Elizabethan house with a place in Civil War history. Engaging textile collection, friendly and welcoming to all ages. The 'Flicker' art installation is fascinating and there's plenty of woodland to run off some energy outside!
