We were really unsure about doing NCT, if I'm honest it seemed like a lot of money to give up our summer saturday mornings. We were also convinced that the NHS classes would be enough for us.
I am so glad we decided to in the end. The classes were near to our house and we had a really small group of lovely couples, who we are still good friends with almost a year on.
Annie our instructor was a joy, she has a great hands on creative way of teaching. She covered the science and practicalities of birth, but also the emotional. She gave the birth partners lots of tips for what to do and how to help during labour.
I think at the time I was only interested in the birth and getting through that, but Annie also gave us helpful advice on surviving the early days at home with your baby, which was great for us novices. On a side note I'm pretty sure there are no other antenatal teachers in the country who make 'baby poo' out of dijon mustard and sesame seeds for nappy changing practice!
Fun, informative and reassuring, everything we needing in the frankly nerve-racking process of pregnancy and birth.
I can not recommend highly enough.
