Become a Reading Volunteer in a Luton school

Luton Wide

Do you enjoy reading to and talking with children? Are you passionate about reading? Would you like to support a Luton primary school in helping children achieve? If the answer is yes, we would love to hear from you!

Save the Children -in partnership with Beanstalk, a children's literacy charity- is currently recruiting volunteers to work with children in Luton primary schools for our Born to Read programme.

As a volunteer, you will provide one-to-one support through playing word games with a child, listening to what they have to say, and of course reading with them.

You will be helping children to improve their reading, boost their confidence, and improve their prospects. And you will be giving them a great gift: the lifelong love of reading.

To become a Reading Volunteer, we ask that you can commit to 90 minutes, twice a week, in a local primary school for one academic year.

Born to Read volunteers find their experience very fulfilling. One volunteer told us, "It's amazing knowing that I can help change a child's future by spending some time with them reading books every week".
