The beautifully refurbished and extended Central Library is open. The historic features have been sensitively restored and transformed, bringing the building up to twenty-first century standards.
A children's area with a difference - it's themed on the Secret Garden by local author, Frances Hodgson Burnet. Spot the animals that pop out from the undergrowth on our digital wall display, or see yourself in the centre of our garden in the special projection area.
Built in the 1930s and recently enjoying a period of extensive renovation costing in excess of £150 million, Manchester Central Library is one of the most instantly recognisable structures in the city centre and its circular architecture is impressive from both the outside and the inside - particularly its round reading room.
