The Workhouse Storytellers present a special 'Museums at Night' after-hours storytelling evening. Step back in time and experience the darker side of life inside The Workhouse as staff and paupers share their stories of despair.
6.30 - 8.30pm
This special storytelling tour provides the opportunity to hear costumed characters recounting stories of despair in this much feared institution. The Poor Law Amendment Act was passed in 1834, leading to the New Poor Law, an unpopular system under strain. Imagine that you are a member of a visiting committee or a crusading journalist such as Dickens. Go and cast a critical eye over our workhouse - What will you make of it?
Suitable for adults & older children (12yrs+)
