A unique chance to explore the handwritten original writings from the first round the world tour. Archivist Paul Smith leads this workshop.
In 1872 Thomas Cook embarked on a journey by steamship, rail and air, visiting countries across the world. This Round the World Tour became an annual event and 144 years on is a trip now made by countless adventure-seekers.
25,000 miles, 222 days from America to Egypt, 31 Sundays of letters home.
Get up close to seldom displayed personal letters of Thomas Cook, along with letters written to Newspapers, and learn more about them with the Archivist who cares for them.
This will also be a unique opportunity to explore the Thomas Cook Exhibition outside of usual Museum opening hours.
