Memorial to four cotton workers who were shot during a strike in 1842. Bears the inscription &quot;Never without sacrifice have gains been made towards justice and democracy&rdquo;.<br /><br />The statue was inspired by the Goya painting &quot;The Third of May 1808&quot; and a prototype featuring four victims can be seen in the &quot;story of Preston&quot; gallery in the Harris Museum.
