Memorial to four cotton workers who were shot during a strike in 1842. Bears the inscription "Never without sacrifice have gains been made towards justice and democracyā€¯.

The statue was inspired by the Goya painting "The Third of May 1808" and a prototype featuring four victims can be seen in the "story of Preston" gallery in the Harris Museum.
