Memorial to four cotton workers who were shot during a strike in 1842. Bears the inscription "Never without sacrifice have gains been made towards justice and democracy”.

The statue was inspired by the Goya painting "The Third of May 1808" and a prototype featuring four victims can be seen in the "story of Preston" gallery in the Harris Museum.
