Intro to Meet-ups

Join a Group Meet-up for news of regular get togethers (you don't have to go to every one), or organise a One-to-one Meet-up on The Friendship Bench and Skills Swap boards (see below for more details).

Group Meet-ups in Rutland

Join your local group to hear details of the next Mumsnet group meet-up in your area. Sometimes it's coffee, sometimes it's an evening out, sometimes it's a picnic... feel free to make a suggestion.

If there are no group meet-ups listed as (Active) you can volunteer to organise one by clicking on the button below. We ask that our Local Ambassadors organise a meet-up every 4-6 weeks and add useful listings when they have the time and inclination. Local Ambassadors also get a special calling card to flash around.

One-to-one Meet-ups

The Friendship Bench

Use the Friendship Bench for one-to-one meet-ups. This is the place to find someone to hang out with in the local area. It's for new mums who would like to chat to a more experienced mum. It's for older women whose own families don't live by them and would like to offer some 'granny' type support. It's for mums and dads who just want to meet someone for a coffee and a chat, or for someone who needs a local running partner. In short, It's for everyone looking for some support or company, and anyone who just wants to make a new friend.

The Friendship Bench works as a talk topic with individual talk threads. Each thread also appears in Rutland's Active Local Talk board. To browse or post a thread, click on the button below.

If you do arrange to meet someone, make sure that you organise to meet in a public place to start with. Use Mumsnet's private messaging system rather than giving out emails and phone numbers until you are comfortable.

Skills Swap

Do you need some advice on which shrubs to plant in your garden, or do you need help painting a room or with a dress pattern? What can you offer in return? Put the swap details in the thread title: 'I can knit - can you prune apple trees?'.
