Childminding Opportunities Briefing, 22/03/14

Telford & Wrekin Council is looking to recruit new childminders to offer more two year old funded places provided by the Government since September.
Childminders are professionals who look after children aged 0 to 16 years, are self-employed, work from home and implement the safeguarding and welfare requirements for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Childminders are registered and inspected by Ofsted, the governing body. They may also offer respite care, support for teenage parents, short breaks for disabled children, mentoring for prospective childminders and some work in partnership with other childminders.
The childminding service at Telford & Wrekin Council offers advice and support to existing and prospective childminders.
The service offers briefing sessions to people wishing to become childminders and support them through the registration process.
