The Windmill is generally open daily at Bardwell but best to check via e mail to Jonathan Wheeler (firstname.lastname@example.org). Naturally if it is windy they will be milling. There is a charming little shop selling flours and baking ingredients, which is generally open daily too. We use their flour and it is excellent. Also on sale are bread making implements such as proving baskets and commemorative items.
The windmill can be explored and has a small display of documents and historical items. The Wheelers make wonderful guides having raised funds to restore this beautiful landmark themselves with help from 'Friends of the Windmill'.

We visited the windmill quite by chance after driving through Bardwell. Despite this, the owner was more than happy to talk to us about its history and their struggle to restore and maintain it. There is a small historical display of artefacts inside, you can climb to the top and see the Mill at work. The owners live adjacent to the Mill and run a small shop selling their own milled flours, bakers equipment and goods plus a small selection of Windmill branded glassware. We were offered a cup of tea, had a chat and left feeling reassured that this local treasure is in good hands. Contact them for details of local open days.
