The Clockhouse on Southwold Pier

Southwold

The Clockhouse is open everyday frm 10.00am. You will find speciality coffees, teas and a simple, stylish menu with locally smoked fish dishes, many from the UK's oldest smokehouse in Lowestoft. Freshly made Paninis, home made cakes and bakes (gluten free offered) are always available. Home made stone baked Pizzas make the perfect child friendly weekend lunch. Fully licenced, there is no better place to sit with a glass of something taking in the sea air and glorious views of the sea. We attract thousands of visitors making the pier one of Suffolk's greatest attractions-awarded the prestigious title of 'Best Tourism Experience'. We also have two arcades: The 'Under the Pier Show', a collection of mad, hand built inventions that will make you laugh and a traditional Amusement Arcade-one of the only arcades in the county with no gambling machines.

Quite simply, this is a stunning location to eat a divine Pizza, on a pier that has been sympathetically restored and offers no better view of the big skies of Suffolk. The amusements are quirky, lack the jarring and jangling colours of the more modern money hungry variety and will delight and occupy all ages. We love it here. The cakes are hand made by people who use good local ingredients plus they cater for gluten free diets too. Afterwards you'll likely have to wander the length of the pier. We visit Winter too as Suffolk coastal skies are never more dramatic than at this time. Listen to Benjamn Britten on your Ipod as you gaze at the horizon.
