Bury St. Edmunds
13 Brentgovel St, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 1EB
Wilcrofts located in Brentgovel Street, has not only been listed in the top ten places to eat in Bury St Edmunds, but has received a maximum five stars in a food hygiene inspection.
“It is pretty rare to get five stars and this is our second inspection and the second time we have gained the maximum marks – so it is quite an achievement,” said Jason Hoyle who runs the Brentgovel Street business with his wife Sarah.
Wilcrofts is a well-known café in Bury St Edmunds; known for its home cooked food. Offering a range of jacket potatoes, freshly made sandwiches and full English breakfasts alongside full meals such as Lasagne, Fish and Chips, Roasts and freshly made meat pies. The Tuna Melts are amazing. Wilcrofts also have a take out sandwich and jacket potato counter. I have rarely seen this cafe anything other than bustling.
Completely fresh, cooked to order good value grub. Used by many locals for their working day lunches because they are fast as well as tasty, Wilcrofts are friendly and welcoming.
A good choice for children with a wide variety of kids meals and a willingness to scale down everything else on the menu. The cafe is very popular locally so it can get very busy but turnover is swift and with two floors, you'll get seating. There is pushchair access but probably best to fold them as tables are close together and the stairs are olde-worlde windy.
