Suffolk National Trust Volunteers

Bury St. Edmunds

We are one of 60+ groups affiliated to National Trust (NT) who help rangers maintain their properties. Our “patch” extends from Dunwich in the north to Bourne Mill (Colchester) in the south to Ickworth (Bury) in the west.

Founded in 1983, we aim to have a “task” every 2 weeks or so and free transport is generally available. Tasks are usually outdoors on local National Trust countryside sites – mainly woodland and gardens; luckily Suffolk is a relatively dry county! We rotate tasks between several estate rangers in the area; tools are provided and instruction on how to use them safely is given. In addition rangers can provide valuable insight into careers in conservation.
If you don't fancy doing the physical labouring, we are particularly interested in meeting people who want to develop / hone / retain their organisational skills in collaboration with our Group.
